The wards were not down; he had taken a short time in some previous afternoon to permit her through them, himself.
He had just relaxed into a smirk as she claimed it with her lips, something he returned now with no question.
"Happy New Year," his usual drawl, heavy with the satisfaction of her kiss,
"Brilliant timing."

She pushed herself off of his desk and walked around to sit on his lap. "I hope I didn't interrupt anything too important.

"There is time enough for reading," he grinned, his gaze flicking from her lips and back to her eyes,
"Perhaps, some other time." He rested both hands on her, one at her waist and one at her thigh.
"And here I was, growing so bored of last year."

"I think last year was a great year." She said. She let her hands run softly along his shoulders and then back down his chest. She smoothed her hands back and forth giving him a slight chest massage as she smiled.
"However, I have a feeling that this year will be pretty amazing too."
