I kinda get what you were meaning with that, but there's also the possibility that the Japanese dude implanted the idea of "YAY I GET TO GO HOME". I mean, who knows for sure other than Nolan? We don't.
The top wiggles like it does when it's about to fall over just before the scene cuts out. I realize that's supposed to leave it open-ended, but I took that as it was intended that he did really get to go home.
To play devil's advocate, it looks a little like they're the same age that we've seen in all the flashbacks and dream sequences, but it's hard to tell since we've only seen them from the back up until that point.
I haven't sat through all the way through the credits, but I think there are people credited for his children's younger and older selves, though, but I don't know if that's only for the phone conversations or what.
Personally, my theory is that the entire movie was a dreamworld created by Mal, with the intent of trying to wake Cobb up. Since the top was once Mal's totem, she knew how it would work, and whether it was spinning or not was essentially meaningless.
