I really do think you would enjoy it. The sets, costumes, and production design are of very high quality. All of the scenes were filmed on location in Hungary and the actors (Holiday Granger and Francois Arnaud) are very talented. And pretty. They change some things from history but not as much as I expected, and the politics are just as entertaining as the romance.

In other words I will probably watch it again one day and I'm sad it's over.

I watched this up until about the middle of season 2. I think François Arnaud is gorgeous. :D
I've always wanted to go back and see Cesare kill Juan.

OMG HE IS, especially in those leather pants he wears ; )

Cesare's character from S1 to S3 goes through this amazing transformation and killing Juan is a huge part of that for him. I remember being shocked that he actually went through with it.

Well, I always knew from the beginning that Cesare would eventually kill Juan, because the rumors that surrounded the real Cesare were dark. I also know that Cesare killed Lucrezia's second husband.

I was kind of annoyed with the way they wrote Lucrezia in the show. I always look at the real Lucrezia as being a sad victim of her family. Her life was tragic.

You definitely get the impression that Lucrezia has a tragic life in the later seasons, especially S3. The death of her second husband is particularly hard for her because she chose him out of lots of other suitors. It's really sad when you think about the fact that all she wanted was someone to love her and a family that would accept her child.

Cesare definitely has a dark character, but I wouldn't say he's a villain or anything like that. Mostly it's his ambition that drives him to make morally reprehensible choices and not any innate cruelty. It's like you see his soul become slowly more and more corrupted as the show goes on, but I still have this soft spot for his character because his actions are always framed in a way that makes sense. He's ruthless but still reasonable.
