It is a holiday to represent the spirit of love. Unfortunately it has also been heavily popularized.

Originally it was called St. Valentine's Day in honor of the Saint it was named for.

People are each other's Valentines because the day is called Valentine's Day.

Also, couples do show affection for each other all year round but it is a special day for them to share more.

Popularized?

What is a saint?

Can they call each other that name any day of the year?

why do they need a day to show more?

They changed what it originally was.

A saint is someone who in life was very good to the people.

No. That name is reserved for Valentine's Day.

They do not but it is nice to have a day reserved to love for them. Much like a birthday is a focus on one day of birth. It is a holiday where they can do something very special for the one they care about.

What if the person for you is not with you?

It's a holiday made to sell candy and cards. It's also about love.

If you showed someone you loved them that much everyday of the year it would get old. Fast. Moderation keeps things going. Special occasions, those are a treat.

So it is all right to not say you love someone every day?

Sometimes if you say something too much it loses meaning.

You can give them to people you care about, too.
