I heard from a friend today that I haven't talked to in... maybe 2 years. Aside from sending each other Christmas and birthday cards and occasional emails. She emailed me asking me to call her. I should have known something was up then. I was going to wait until I got home but I was too curious so I called her a little while ago ( Read more... )

It's sad, but I hadn't seen her in so long it's not like... I dunno, I wasn't close to her, so I'm okay. *hugs* Thank you

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It's never easy to loss someone, no matter much time has passed since you've seen them. It brings back memories and regrets are sure to follow. Eventually, good memories will follow as well. Getting together with your friends may be a good idea for your healing process.

I've actually been thinking of this since I discovered an old address book the other night while cleaning/packing. Some names I couldn't even remember who they were (although I suspect most were former classmates that were never really "friends" more "someone to get the notes from!"), others I saw the name on realized how long it had been since I'd spoken with them. It was a mixed trip down memory lane.

You should try to get in touch with some of those people, if you're so inclined :) Not the notes-copying ones but the actual friends, maybe. It was so good to hear my friend's voice... kind of a bittersweet phone call, really, since she had bad news.

Then again, sometimes I guess it's best to just leave things alone. I'm not good at drawing that distinction at times. The older I get the more apt I am to leave the past in the past... but I think it's supposed to be the opposite? (the older you get the more sentimental you get?)
