Hallo, hallo! What's the policy of characters that literally have other characters attached to them? I'm filling out an app for Ashton Anchors right now, and the thing with him is that he has two dragons fused to his shoulders--they have individual personalities, can speak if they must (though they only talk to Ashton, in private), and have a mental connection strong enough to possess and talk/fight through him if they want to.

Would something like that pass muster, or should I leave 'em off and app him as an individual character without them? They're pretty important to him and his development, but he can be played without them.

Just to clarify, these dragons only talk to Ashton and don't speak to/interact with other characters?

They only talk to Ashton, but they can interact with other characters near him (nosing them, making nonsensical noises, etc.) They basically act like intelligent pets, which is why I went 'uh-oh' when I reread the FAQ.

Since, outside of pet-like behavior, they would only be interacting with Ashton, then yes, the dragons can come along.

This may seem like a silly question, but --

When are we going to start having introduction posts in the OOC comm? <3' I'mexcitedandwanttomeetpeopledon'tjudge. I'd go ahead and post myself, but there's nothing there yet and I'm shy. XD Ish. Is it okay to start posting there?

Originally, we were going to wait for the opening of the game, but the idea of opening the OOC comm a bit early will be nice to get people talking ahead of time!

The mods will post first to the comm so we can introduce ourselves to you and the other players, but after we've posted there, you'd be more than welcome to!

What's the position on Canon AUs?

Canon AUs? Can you give us some examples, please?

The DC comics have a lot of them - some are actually different universes, some are what if stories, some are timeline twists.

I'm thinking of apping from the last one, in which a villain changes reality for a few pages. (...That happens sometimes.)

Had a feeling it'd be DCU! All right. Here is what we've decided: We will allow them. For AUs featured within different universes and "what if..." stories, those characters/storylines will be treated as their own canon and listed separately, like how there can be two different versions of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts, or the different reboots within universes like DC and Marvel. There could even be alternates of those different universes when treated like that, like how we could have a Joker from the 1960s program and another from the Dark Knight era, and then we could have one alternate version of either one ( ... )

Sorry if this is a dumb question and/or answered elsewhere, but - would there be any issue with a so-called "silent protagonist" character (such as from Persona 3, etc.)? While there is a lot of individual player input as to how the character turns out in-game, for the one I'm thinking of, there is also a more or less accepted "true" version of the character, as well as supplemental information in other-media portrayals of the story (i.e., manga) ... gosh I hope that's coherent. ._. Clearly I've been at work too long today.

It's not a dumb question! We appreciate you asking.

For silent protagonists like the one in your example, we do ask that the "true" version of the character is represented in application and in play. So long as the supplemental media supports that version, it is fine to use in addition to the main canon as well.

So basically, you'll be just fine applying with that character in mind!

Oh hey! I'm thinking about bringing in someone from either Pokemon Adventures/Special or the games and I'm wondering... would there be any limits on Pokemon from that series or the games? In Adventures, Pokemon are treated a lot more like regular animals than they are in the anime-very few of them have enough canon personality to count as a separate, appable character rather than a 'pet,' and the character I'm thinking of apping doesn't own any of the ones that do.

Anyway, if they're allowed to have their Pokemon, would they be allowed a full team of six or would only a certain number arrive with them?

The only limits on Pokemon is that they not be the characters that could be apped on their own (like Pikachu) and that they must be small enough to fit in a normal door (unlike, say, Charizard). Since characters can bring what they have in their pockets, then a trainer carrying six pokeballs can have a team of six. We hope that helps!
