Whooo, the Metamorphoses! :D I love Ovid so much (I did Amores II last year, and completely adored it. My teachers like throwing the Mets on us for unseen translation, so I haven't had it as a set text yet, but I'm very fond of it.) What bit(s) of the Met are you doing?

Also, your Forms of Folklore class sounds pretty cool. You'll have to tell us how they are.

And the syllabus mentioned fandom.
Why does this never happen to me? Might be because the only fandom there is on Classics is Euripides writing fanfiction on Homer and Plato slashing Achilles and Patroklos, as if it weren't sort-of-canon already.

Okay, geekery over. Sorry about that. :P

We're doing a sizeable chunk *digs around for syllabus* Most of book 1 and what looks like a wide smorgasbord of the rest of the text.

There seriously needs to be more fandom in Classics (and Achilles/Patroklos is TOTALLY canon.) When I was reading Bacchae, I was dying for fic, and sadly class was more interested in being productive than having shipping wars. I know, cry me a freaking river. But we did have a read through at the end of the semester that involved making thyrsoi!!
On the topic of Classics fandom, Vergil as Homer fanboy ita vero/non?

SUPERNATURAL OFF HIATUS! HOORAY!

Also, you go to Berkeley? You're the second person on my flist to go there. :D I may be there for the summer -- I'm applying to one of the research programs there.

Your classes sound awesome. <3 Is there Supernatural in there?

Yep! I'm at Berkeley. GO BEARS! You should definitely come! Berkeley is pretty darn amazing and of course only a short distance from the future site of Starfleet Academy. :D

I really hope that there is some SPN love in the Folklore class, if not, I might just be bringing it up!
