:) I actually thought of you, and how you'd mentioned you like them. It actually helped give me enough incentive to write them this time. (I was feeling a little lazy.)

The thing the highlights don't do is capture how emotional he seemed to get. It made me a little teary, actually. ~looks around covertly to see if anyone noticed~

OMG that's the awesomest thing I've seen in a long time (electing Obama not withstanding). I actually choked up. I know that some black folks i.e. my socially conservative sister, doesn't like it when I equate the fight for equal rights for LGBT to Blacks but OK, no one stole same sex loving folks from their homeland and sell them like cattle but at the base of all struggles of inequality is the issue of how in the name of all that's holy can you justify disenfranchising an entire part of your citizenry... how one can justify this continues to amaze me and make me more and more jaded about the human heart. He ended with one of my favorite phrases.

Thank You yet again. Thank You for posting something very useful, and informative.

When Prop 8 (and others like it) passed it shit all over my joy for Obama being elected as I am sure it did others.

I have mentioned to people the very fact that not more than 40 yrs ago people were against black and white people getting married.
(Even had a twenty something Penn Law student who didn't know this gasp in shock at the idea!)

Back then, they said similar things like "If you let a black man marry a white woman, what next? Donkeys and men?"

Sound familiar?

I still don't understand why folks who would vote against gay marriage really give a fuck. Or is it something their pastor is telling them to give a fuck about?

I am sooo very sick of religion playing such an important role in law making in this country.
I pay taxes, too. I have been since I was 15. Every year. WTF can't I get married and enjoy the same benefits as a straight couple? IF I can't have the same rights, then I should have to pay less taxes.
