The Cabinet Door (kakasaku)

The war was over.

It had not lasted long, the longs wars of the past had left an imprint on all of the nations, and they were loathed to stretch it out. It was almost over before it had begun, Naruto’s growth as a ninja fueled Konaha’s victory.

Shortly before the war, Sakura had fallen in love.

This story is chock full of beautiful little subtleties. Throughout whole piece, I was "looking underneath the underneath." I'm glad you harnessed your inspiration from the gift exchange and channeled it into this.

Now if only I could get around to doing something like that...

Oh, thank you so much! I was inspired by everyone's creativity. The summary just popped in my head, and I wrote the story from there. :) Now if I can only figure out LJ... :)

I enjoyed this very much! It had an excellent mix of humor and tragedy. I loved the way you had Sakura come to identify with Kakashi through her grief.

And the part where he hit on her then politely excused himself to puke? Oh, that got a rueful laugh out of me. Good times, heh. And then what came after was even funnier. Thank you.

This is excellent.

I love how weirdly happy this is in the later parts, and how Kakashi and Sakura getting together isn't traumatic or dramatic.

I can't decide if all the Sakura & Pakkun love was my favorite part, or Tsunade calling Kakashi on staring at Sakura's ass.

Great job.

ooh this is pretty much brilliant. i loved this piece. it's a wonderful change from the dramatic usual sort of relationship which revolves around angst and sex and what not.

my only problem was the tense changes, which were a little confusing. but still, lovely piece.

totally reccing this.

Thank you for the compliment, I really wanted this to be a simple story. And I love Pakkun, so he had to be in it.

This is perfect! Everything about it!

I loved that there relationship was so quiet and natural and I especially loved that you never had them say that they loved each other, because that didn't fit with the simple, quiet, no-fuss relationship that they had.

Thank you for writing this and posting it!
