"I can see no high ground"

At the start of the past two years I did a post with a list of the favourite music I had heard in the year before and as I am as obsessed with music and whittering on about it as ever I decided I would keep the habit going.

I tried to put people on here who I hadn't heard of before the beginning of the year although I failed where Momus was ( Read more... )

I love how you wrote this up - it reads like something in a music magazine! These are good recommendations. I'm going to go check out Bombay Bicycle Club (heard a song by them a while back and can not remember what it was), Moev, Momus, Post War Years and Field Music.

I am glad as ever that you got something out of my whittering bb, I wish more people would do this you know because I want some recommendations from other people myself. Is there anyone you would reccommend me to listen to??

I wish I had some recommendations to offer. I've been starving for new music recently so I've just been revisiting things that I don't listen to very often. Most recently I've been spending time with late 70s/early 80s punky/new wavey sorts of things? I don't know how to classify them properly but I've been listening to a lot of Devo, Magazine, The Ruts, Joy Division, and The Stooges. I've also been listening to some rather random things like Liza Minnelli (lol), Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen.

For recent music, I'm really love the song "Nancy From Now On" by Father John Misty. It's got this kind of sweet and dreamy feel to it. I'll try to find a link.

Okay, I like this version best and I just love the way the guy swings his hips. This whole performance gives me almost a lounge lizard type feel and I love it.
