It snowed here finally, was waiting for it because we haven't had any so far and it's become a yearly thing recently. It never used to be. Before the last 3 years I'd seen snow probably about 3 times in my whole life and then about 3 years ago it started to snow 3 times a year...and now I'm a bit confused when there isn't snow.

Clearly the weather ( Read more... )

I'm sorry the snow is causing so much trouble for you - I totally understand that you want it gone when the bus service is cut as soon as there's a snowfall. I wish you could send some of the snow you've been getting over here - I love snow; we're used to it so they never take the buses off or anything, and we haven't had a lot of snow this year and I miss it! (Snow makes the evenings so much brighter and it gets so dark without it!)

They started the buses again about half an hour before I left for work so no more walkies for Zoe. I would be far happier but for the fact that they seriously could have done it yesterday if they'd sent the gritter truck around...I mean it's not like it snowed again...

It's that inefficiency to everything that makes it really unpleasant.

And people still don't believe that the global warming effect is messing with the weather... We have plus 5 Celsius in Canada. In Toronto. In February. WTF?

That's where all the snow has been, we were missing ours.

It's been so weird here. It will snow, like 6", then the next day it completely melts. There is a tiny mound of snow on our front lawn, but otherwise the sidewalks and roads are completely dry and bare. We have gotten a lot of RAIN instead. My coat that is good for cold weather is not appropriate for rain, so I have been watching the hourly forecasts to see what it will be doing when I'm on my way to and from work.

That's crappy if they are not prepared for it, and you have to walk. It seems like Europe is getting more snow each year like you say, they should plan better for it.

I read this website about winter preparedness in Ireland, and it was LOL reading the tips for people who were somewhat new to a lot of snow, one tip was "don't pour hot water on snow to melt it, it will turn to ice" I'm finding it hard to imagine Ireland and the UK snow-covered, I always thought of them as having such mild weather.
