I dont actually know for sure, I interpret it as a horrified/disgusted person with with their eyes bugging out in shock.

Wow, that guy is cute! I like 8-) a lot too. It reminds me of sitting and reading under a tree at recess, much to the sadistic delight of my mocking classmates.

Oooh, familiar! I need more than just ten fingers to count the number of times I was heckled for reading while on the bus to school. Why would anyone read when they weren't assigned to it... when they didn't actually have to? Amazing! :p
