I don't think it's explicitly related to gender so much as it is the stereotype of the damsel in distress. Aforementioned damsels are kidnapped usually because they do something stupid, or are just stupid in general, or are kidnapped because somebody else did something stupid that the damsel went along with. It's not incorrect to assume a damsel in distress is too thick to not get kidnapped again if you're not going full-bore.

Though to be honest, I probably would have laughed too. >_>

Wtf. You're a goddamn ninja in a field of ninja. Walking politely is more time to get killed or re-captured! Where is their ninja common sense?

Man, I've gotta say that does sound like quite a lot of fun... although I bet wooden weapons hurt quite a bit more than foam dactyl hunt swords!
