Hearing update

Hearing is SO much like touch. Eric said: "I'm going to go out." I didn't hear a word; the cadence of the sounds were familiar. It just =felt= like all the times he's said he was going out for a cigarette. And he moved toward the door with his jacket. If you know a person well, a lot of communication is just gesture. But then ( Read more... )

Oh, absolutely loss of hearing -- with ear infection. After ruptured ear drum. LOL! My body's falling apart! I've always had trouble with my right ear. I had TONS of ear infections as a child, but they started acting up again mid-30's. I don't know WHAT caused the rupture this go 'round. At any rate, I'm hoping to get =some= of the hearing back. We'll see. More an annoyance than anything. I'm willing to get a hearing aid if I have to.

I went to the clinic at the school since I don't have insurance. I got anti-biotics for the infection. I hate taking anti-biotics, but I have to get back in the game sooner rather than later. My right ear drum was ruptured and I had an infection in both ears. I have some hearing loss since then that I'm =hoping= will return. =/

while on vacation, i got swimmer's ear and felt as if i were in a tunnel the whole time. the description in the first paragraph was spot on. it's disconcerting...but, honestly, while i wouldn't prefer it, i could lose my hearing and adjust. i could never lose my sight and feel as if i were lynne.

i hope your ears return to normal soon. it took me something like three weeks. i have had ear drums burst, at least, twice, but i can't remember the recovery time.

every year, i make the same personal-library vow...then i see some piece of knowledge or some clump of words that i MUST own. what is so alluring about possession? i have more than enough books to keep me occupied for a few years, but, no, i want, i want, i want.

It's disconcerting, but not all bad. There's a softness about it. I think I could adjust as well. Just make sure folks know I can't hear and enjoy the feel/sound of my own breath, my own heartbeat. So cozy. I love sounds and voices, but like you I think I could more quickly adjust to loss of sound than loss of sight.

I hope they get back to normal, too.

Ha, ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a hard time fighting that 'ownership' thing =/
