Hmmm...

Via Twitter, I requested Stephen Fry and Neil Gaimon to publish the link to the British Red Cross Australian Bushfire appeal... ( http://www.redcross.org.uk/bushfires  if you want to donate that way - more useful for those in the UK to get their tax receipt)

Both of them did so, and it has caused somewhat of an explosion of retweeting the ( Read more... )

In hindsight, maybe #bushfire-relief would have been a better tag, but that's very much a thing that wouldn't have occured to me ahead of time either.

TBH twitter is not really a suitable source for distribution of information in any more than a viral way. It is far too organic a medium for "important" information distribution if that makes sense.

So no. Dont worry. Proper channels should be used for such things. Twitter is not a proper channel in that sense.

Fark, I really should get onto twitter, shouldn't I?

One should not rely solely on relatively new social networking software to get information. Twitter is a fad which will hopefully pass us by soon.

People that rely on Twitter, or any other user generated medium, as a sole source of information on any issue of significance are tying their fate to the whim of the swarm.
