Jack was grateful that Ellie seemed to be handling things well. If she was hurt, she would have either stood frozen or ran away, neither of which accurately described her actions. Jack decided to go talk to Luke. He promised himself he would, and he could use the distraction.
Arriving at Luke's room, however, Jack saw that Luke was fast asleep. Jack didn't really know what to do. He was getting really tired of alternating between utter lack of energy to do anything and people being busy when he did gain the energy. And of course, the disappointment at his plans falling through brought his level of energy right back down. Still, Jack didn't want to wake Luke up, especially since he wanted to improve the terms on which they stood; instead, Jack laid down on the floor and took his own nap, figuring that Luke would wake him up when he did.
