Good thing we have our priorities straight

Lately, the Bitchdowne School of conservative opinionating has been making lots of noise. The school is so named for the fact that any time a woman suggests that the status of women in our society is still somewhat inferior and that perhaps we still have work to do in this arena, they rise en masse to scream "Bitch, down!" Any statement of ( Read more... )

I love you. I'd offer to marry you and have your filthy liberal nancy-boy babies, but ninafarina and my husband would probably object. So I'll settle for saying that the "gonads" and "morays" bit had me literally laughing at work, here.

also, in my experience - and my dictionary job means my experience is fairly broad - currently, anyone who uses "misandry" and means it seriously is going to prove to be a Grade A asshole. There are exceptions, but not many.

Carolingian criminal justice professor

Hey, that's descriptive of his geographical and proper chronological place, although I like to think even Charlemagne and Louis the Pious would have been all, "Um, what the hell?" if faced with Mike Adams.

Yeah, it's odd how pundits are often fulminating against snooty college professors and/or stuck-up Hollywood stars with some variation of "shut up and do your jobs and quit telling us how to live", but they seem perfectly content with the idea that they themselves, who have the same credentials or even less, are qualified to tell us how to live. In other words, stop listening to stupid jerks like George Clooney, and pay attention to REAL thinkers like Oliver North and Ben Shapiro.

No freakin' doubt. One of the things that keeps me from having any balls in the abortion debate, for example, is that I have trouble making other people's personal decisions my business in the first place -- like, who am I to tell somebody else how to live? I don't think rich people or politicians or pompous, bossy assclowns are any better qualified, just because they hold themselves in such high regard.

This reminds me of something that may or may not be directly relevant, but the whole "GRR, BE A MAN, BEAT YOUR WIFE 'n' SHOOT STUFF 'n' INDOCTRINATE NOW!" thing brings on a This American Life episode in which Dan Savage talks about his love for "sissy boys" -- he has a lot more respect for people who don't let external influences force their personalities/mannerisms into hiding. He talked about one such boy in high school who got beaten up and what for, but didn't let it change who he was or keep him from expressing himself; Dan contends that there's a lot more balls there than in someone who takes on a prescribed personality to ( ... )
