NERDS! By the truckload! One per truckload, please, they're huge! God, I've forgotten how many nerds there are, and how nerdy. There are a lot more women than I remember from the last time I was at a con (when I was, oh, 20), and a lot more people of color, but also the exact same amount of morbidly obese bearded sweaty guys who talk a lot ( Read more... )

Man o man o man! I HAVE that Super DC 1976 calendar, it hangs on my studio wall, and has for many a year. It even prompted fellow Ape-Lawyer Justin Ison to adroitly comment that I sure as hell have a lot of out-of-date calendars around my home. And for the record, I was born on the day that the Flying Graysons were mercilessly slaughtered a hundred feet above the Big Top center ring. Raise a glass!

Also, wait, girl-crish? Spike? Girlamatic Spike? I like her style, she's got a bit of a SIP kind of thing ...

Well, it's better than the goddamn Pizza Hut calendar I had up in the kitchen, I tell you what. Also for the record, I share a birthday with Galaxy Broadcasting owner Morgan Edge, the DC universe's Rupert Murdoch. I also got to thinking: am I nerdy enough to throw a party for Batman's birthday or something like that? Of course I am.

And yes, THAT Spike, from Girlamatic and Iron Circus! We were bullshitting about Modern Tales, and I mentioned that you were one of my imaginary internet friends, and I think what she did after that could best be described as "gushing".

You know, I was thinking about SiP, which I hate, at the con, and I thought, you know, I sure do hate this comic a lot for something I have barely read. I should give it a fairer hearing. So I bought a dirt-cheap banged-up copy of the first TPB. And now I hate it even more than I did before. Gah. He's not a bad artist by any means, but good Christ do I hate his writing.
