Chapter 7

Gladys’ face as Kate walked into the bar with Betty was priceless.  She clearly hadn’t been expecting the girl to show up.  She had also clearly had several drinks, Betty thought, and she came careening toward them, and threw her arms around Kate.

“Kate! I’m so glad you’re here! Here, come over-we have a table in the back.  Hey Betts.”

Side note--have you heard of the 1920s radio network? You can get it streaming. That would probably also be a nice thing to read Bomb Girls fan fiction to.

Let the angst begin!

Poor Kate, tearing up over Betty and Annie and not really understanding why.

I'm glad you mentioned that Kate had been gone about six months; I wondered if she would feel like Betty had transferred her affections rather quickly, but I hadn't realized that she had been gone that long.

I will be interested to see where Kate 2.0 falls on the scale of Marion to Kate 1.0; as an example, the reference to Kate 1.0 saying "darn it to heck." I don't really see any version of Kate ever embracing cursing, but at the same time I definitely expect Kate 2.0 to get back to singing all sorts of music.

I think if Kate could actually figure out what she was feeling, she would STILL feel like Betty transferred her feelings quickly! But, don't worry, Betty isn't particularly attached to Annie--she's just doing the "well, the girl I love doesn't love me, and this girl likes me, and she's nice and stuff, so...I could give it a try, maybe I'll get to like her just as much" thing. BUT YOU WON'T BETTY, YOU WON'T. I know that's a spoiler, but the next chapter should be up tonight, and that's pretty much settled within the first couple paragraphs!

Agreed on the cursing and the singing. I feel like Kate will be admonishing Betty about her vocabulary for the next 60 years.

And yes, I had to bring back Head Nod Shirley (I like the full title :))! I feel like it's just one example of the brilliance of this show--that one little moment opened the door to so many potential back stories.
