True to her word, Kate Andrews arrived back in Toronto two weeks after sending the letter.  Gladys came home from work to find her sitting on the floor outside her apartment door, eating an apple, and looking like all kinds of sunshine and sincerity.

“Kate Andrews, before my very eyes,” Gladys said with a smile.

Yay! Kate is back.
Nice interaction with Gladys. Everyone's behavior in this story rings very true to me: Gladys accepting Betty, but not wanting to be too harsh on Kate; Kate struggling with a belief system that does condemn certain behavior, but also encourages kindness and love, etc. And Betty, though she wasn't in this chapter, is trying to be steadfast, both to herself and accepting who she is, as well as to Kate and whatever she needs to be happy and comfortable.

Oh my god please don't injure yourself reading!! I am trying to get the next chapter up tonight, but am having a little research snag, so it may have to wait till tomorrow. We'll see, maybe I will leave the specific thing I need research for, out.
