This year for Father's Day, I got my dad a book I found at a book fair.
I'll be the first to admit that it was pretty hard to part with this gleaming gem of literature.

Ok, so sandwiches are already basically the best things ever invented. But this book composes little poetic paragraphs for each possible permutation of bread/substance/bread that Miss Fuller could conceive of! I just love how every bizarre sandwich combo is so carefully described and recorded, between pretty little headers and footers. LOVE IT.
Given, some of the sandwiches are pretty disgusting. Keep in mind that this is a book written in the twenties, when, apparently, it was considered OK to eat fruit salad on toast and call it a sandwich. But still, the little descriptive paragraphs make it like you're THERE, staring down a popcorn-paste sandwich and considering its potential.
In short, this is a totally amazing book. I'm usually pretty unlucky in my used-book-combing, but I'm so glad I got to snag this one for my dad and keep it in a family that knows the full appreciation for sandwiches.
