“Perhaps in time they will be British, also.” His focus sharpened, and I hurried on. “I was Welsh once. It was the world to me. Now I am British, yet Wales is still a part of me. Could not the same be true someday of a Saxon maid?”
He took in a quick breath and let it out slowly.
“You dream of civilization,” he said quietly. “Perhaps it will be so. I ( Read more... )

Awww. <3

"Queen of Camelot" has a lot of issues, but it is a fun read -- it was my FAVORITE THING for a couple of years in high school -- and Mordred is one of the better drawn characters, I think. :3 Not that I'm biased. XD

What issues? *ò*
I'm still at the beginning (reading English ebook... and not a lot of time XD) but I'd love to hear your opinion <3

Queen of Camelot is pretty much my favorite book, issues or no. I read the first half of it online and it took me about a year to find a hard copy. I love McKenzie's Mordred, and her Guinevere is the best I've read. (Far less aggravating than, say, Marion Zimmer Bradley's or Mercedes Lackey's.) I've read it twice and I'm working on a third between my reread of The Mists of Avalon.

Ohhh <3
I love Guinevere as a character and so far this one is the best I've read (but I liked Bradshaw's Guinevere too and the Guinevere of The Book of Mordred by Hanratty... but she was strange).
What? Mercedes Lackey wrote arthurian novels? I didn't know : D I'll have to add her in my arthurian site.

Ohh, I have a difficult relationship with the Mists of Avalon (read as= I don't like it for various reasons).

Yeah, Lackey wrote one Arthurian novel: "Gwenhwyfar: the White Spirit". I personally didn't like it. I felt like her Guinevere was trying too hard to be JUST AS GOOD AS THE MENFOLK (read: typical tomboyish princess) and her Mordred was a jerkface. But idk, you might like it. I may be just biased. XD

Uhn X3 I don't think I'll buy it. For the English books I have to buy them on amazon and I have a lot of expedition cost for Italy so... I only buy books with exeptional good recs XD
(And I'd love to buy the fantasy series by Mercedes Lackey... and if Mordred was a jerkface XD I don't want to read it).

Oooh, this sounds interesting! I don't read many Arthurian novels, but I'm rather interested in this one now. I've always liked Guinevere, and there just aren't enough novels that portray her well. But a strong, sympathetic Guinevere? Sounds promising. :D
