Ok, so. What the hell!
SPOILERS fo the 'Dragon's child' of the King Arthur trilogy by M. K. Hume.
I know Kai (Caius) is not the most loved character but... but... you can't just make him a pedophile, homosexual, serial killer who beats his wife and his horses and just loves to inflict pain.
It all started with Kai being a little snob as he should be,

I'm okay with the Kai-is-gay part (of course) but making him into a monster! I think it's just an exaggeration. She really has to hate Kai ;__;!

It's just so pointless. Nothing cruel/strange happened in Kai's life to make a possible explanation of his behaviour but his friendship with Severinus. And he hates women so much.
I read a lot of evil characters, usually Mordred and Morgause, in Arthuriana but they always had some explanation, some hidden motive.

Also... Kai? Wut. NO. >_

Ha, and he has the abusive boyfriend Severinus. And Arthur saves him, becomes king, and everyone is happy with Arthur/Kay gay love.
(I never write enough KayArthur!)

That's another thing I hate, if the villainous character is also gay, as well as being a murderer/paedophile/rapist, etc. I hate it when they use a character's sexuality to stress that they're "deviant". What century is this, people?
Sorry. Apparently you're getting my rants today...

But then I think... gay or het doesn't matter, he is evil!
But in the book it seems... He loves boys so he hates women.
And I thought 'Well, I don't know why. He loves his mother and she is a kind woman. But ok, he just loves his friend Severinus more than his wife.'
And then... he beats his wife. WTF!
And then... he loves boys becomes he kidnaps little children and rapes them (or watches his friend Severinus raping them) and if he kidnaps little girl he tortures and kills them.
WTH!
This just has no relation with homosexuality.
I read wonderful arthuriana with wonderful homosexuality being it for a 'good' character (as I-don-'t-remember-the-name-of-the-lovers in 'Sword at sunset' or for an enermy as for Mordred in 'The once and future king'- well, I thought he was gay, however), but I never read things where homosexuality is used in a bashing.
Because this is definitely bashing.

I'm still hoping that, in the middle of the book, the author explains it was all a big misunderstanding and Kai is very very innocent.
But- I really think it won't happen : (

I also didn't think I'd be so interested in Supernatural, but it's one of my favorites now! I really need to start watching Doctor Who, but I agree, Neal Caffrey has to be one of my favorite guy characters. :D

However, I have to admit that I judged the Kai of this book too fast. XD (but I still don't like him)
