Lesson learned.

So last night while cleaning the kitchen, I decided to make a nice cup of Earl Grey. I turned the burner on, and checked the kettle for water. I noticed there was a fly in the kettle, so I turned to the sink to wash the kettle out. As I turned back around to put the kettle back on, I noticed that the coil on the electric stove was not sitting in ( Read more... )

Well, that's good that the pain subsided enough that you can type now - a step in the right direction. Just so you know that other ppl do stuff like that too - here's a story: I burnt the hell out of my hand when I was 9. It was on the 4th of July rollerskating down a hill into the driveway. I was about to crash into something and stopped myself by putting my hand on the grill, like I often did. Little did I know my mom had just grilled halibut for 4th of July dinner - and it was hot-hot-hot! I still remember the smell of my flesh searing and the smoky taste of grilled me when I immediately put it to my mouth w/o thinking. It hurt so bad and I cried like a baby and screamed my fool head off as my mom (a nurse) cleaned it and bandaged it. Everyone kept asking me if it was from 4th of July firecrackers as it healed which annoyed the tar out of me. LOL I had to wear a bandage for a few weeks. The great thing about palms is they don't really scar, they just kind of bubble over w/ fluid then the new skin blends in before you know it. Well ( ... )

I am lucky enough this time where the skin didn't fall off instantly, like the last time I went to make tea and the steam hit my hand. Its just calloused and red. I basically have an imprint of the burner branded onto my hand. It doesn't hurt at all today but last night I would have rather had my hand amputated then deal with the pain of the burn. Btw. I am making my ticket reservations for DM by the end of the month. Something in the 50 buck range, which are still shitty seats compared to the 80 dollar ones. I think Im going to cheap out on the hotel a little. Anyways let me know what your plans are,we are going to be staying for the weekend. Give me a call sometime!

It's already calloused - that's a good sign towards healing ( ... )

Ooh! Just found out - Scythe is another alias of BAT3, and it's involved in programmed cell death (cell suicide.) Scythe is a much more interesting name for a protein than BAT3. :D /geek

cover it up, the reason burns hurt so much is because of the contact with the air around you.

The burn doesn't sting anymore as much as it initially did. The skin is really tight where the scar is. It probably won't leave a terrible scar. At least the skin stayed on, unlike my last burn, ew.
