That's still NOTHING compared to that one block in Dyker Heights. What is it, 84th street? and around 12th avenue? With the two warring houses across from each other. I used to take out of town friends out there just to show them how unbelievably tacky Brooklynites can be when it comes to Xmas decor.

Completely agreed. Ed, I am so glad we have the same experience concerning that. Ya know, though, the houses aren't warring- one of the houses- the one with the Merry go round and gigantic toy soldiers is a cancer survivor-*edit: the owner, not the house*- that's why every year there is someone dressed up in a character costume of the now (Elmo, ect)- they collect money from the gawkers for the American Cancer Society and a Leukemia foundation. Both houses raise money and if memory serves me right they raised close to $100k a few years back.

And you can bet I will be posting pics of those houses--tacky- over the top- you bet- THat's why I like the Long Beach house-- it's outrageous and themed without getting bonkers...and it reminded me of Brooklyn...
