crying won't solve anything

There are many reasons I want to cry at the moment. The first is this cold that will not go away. The downside of working with children and teenagers is that your chances of catching a virus triples. I have not been this sick in a year and a half. I can still breathe, and I'm grateful for that, but the sneezing and blowing my nose every ten minutes ( Read more... )

In terms of Uhura/Spock--which version of them do you want to write? Also, I think it may help if you start of with them as friends instead of leaping into the romance--getting your toes wet so to speak. You let me know which version you want to write and I'll think up a prompt for you.

Also...Liz had issues and brought unnecessary drama; I'd not write her, either.

Thanks for the hugs. I've been wanting to catch up on your Star Trek fics but this sickness has made me not want to do much of anything lately. It's a chore to stay awake.

I want to write reboot!Spock/Uhura. I'm not yet qualified to write in the TOS verse. You're right about writing them as friends first. I need to figure them out as people because I'm still not sure how to get them into a romance. I understand why Uhura would want a relationship with Spock and I know that he admires her, but I want to know what gives him the final push to touch her, to kiss her and to love her and get past his Vulcan logic.

I was thinking that Liz did bring some unnecessary drama. Eve was supposed to be from a wealthy family and the Liz allowed the writers to retconned that and made her come from a poor dysfunctional family. That's one of the many things I can't forgive James E. Reilly for.

My fic will be there--you just concentrate on getting better! :)

Mutual interests. They both are well-versed in xenolinguistics. Have him notice her--he's a TA for a 101 class and Uhura impresses him and he feels compelled to tell her good job. It doesn't even have to be the first class. But after like, half a semester, he approaches her about it. He doesn't even have to be her TA, but something like that, that way you can build their personalities a bit. Or maybe he attends a chorale concert and he notices her from there. Vulcans appreciate music, after all.

You know black folk can't be wealthy pft. *rolls eyes*

I"m so sorry you don't feel well. That might be partly to blame for the Uhura/Spock block you have going. Maybe things will be better after the cold passes.

I find myself thinking of that dynamic with them too, it's interesting to have out figure it out because they didn't really even hint at what happened between them in the film. You assume she took the lead because of their scenes in the film, but other than that, they kind of left us hanging.

As for prompts? I love to read a scene between them after his planet was destroyed. Maybe her comforting him while he says a real goodbye to his mother?

The sickness is partly to blame as well as a host of other life issues. I'm not very creatively inclined these days. I'm writing old ideas and not really coming up with new ones.

I really want Abrams or someone to tell me what got Spock to enter into a relationship with Uhura. They fit together, but I want a deeper understanding of how. I think what I really want is a deeper understanding of Spock's character. Uhura I get him, him not so much.

I like the prompt. I'm imagining Spock saying goodbye on Earth and respecting Amanda's Terran heritage. Thanks!

I hope you feel better soon. And good luck on your interview! I hope it works out for you.

It can be hard jumping into an active fandom. I had the same problem recently so I feel your pain. As for prompts...errrr...I'm so not good at this. Maybe a fic that flips the logic v. emotion around. A situation where's she's the analytical one and he's the one that lets his emotions take over. Or maybe something about her family or background that conflicts with his Vulcan upbringing?

If I think of something more concrete I'll let you know.

And so happy about the Reese Simone fic :) Can't wait to read it.

Spock letting his emotions take over would be very interesting. I'm going to to have to think about that one more. I can see one situation where he would let his emotions take precedent (not Pon Farr) . . . and I think I'm getting an idea for something already, thanks :)

I'm so sorry about your sickness!

I had the same problem with my nose and I got a neti pot and some Mucinex (and/or Tylenol Cold or drugstore equivalent)...cleared it right up! i hope you feel better.

and Passions - oh, Passions. Oh, the memories.

I think the sickness is almost gone, but I'm thinking of investing a neti pot as I forsee much sickness in my future. I love my germ-infested students.

I think it's funny that now that Passions is done and gone I'm feeling all nostalgic for it. When it was on I use to laugh and point when it wasn't making me angry.

I met great internet friends through Passions, so I'm grateful for that. But it sure made me mad, lol!!

And neti pots are great for flushing allergens etc out of your system, and it helped me out immensely with congestion and the like.
