Oh my! What a surprise! Saddam Hussein's sentence was handed down yesterday! How coincidentally close to the US elections! I sure am surprised! Are you surprised?! I know I am!

I'm sure surprised! I never would have guessed that it might have been timed to bolster the current ruling party in the US!

Even less surprising is that it was supposed to be announced two weeks ago, but a complication arose, forcing them to delay.

Eh...I think *maybe* by now that most Americans realize that Saddam Hussein doesn't have a damn thing to do with any of them (unless they happen to be Iraqi or something).

Alas, they have not: http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Poll_Nearly_third_of_Americans_still_0922.html

1/3 believed there was a connection, and 1/3 thought of themselves as "evangelical or born again Christians". Coincidence? I think not!`

That's still a minority though.
Plus those are the same people who are probably feeling rather demotivated to vote right now what with all their personal heroes turning out to be gay, or drug addicts, or both.

33% is still a damn lot of people. Way more than enough to make a difference in an election.

It looks like this election, though, will be decided through dirty tricks, like the "Virginia Elections Commission" calls telling voters in Democratic districts that they will be arrested if they try to vote.

Somehow, killing democracy seems like a more punishment-worthy crime than killing people. Reinstate the death penalty for Republicans!
