Books: The addiction drives me crazy.

I've been reading A LOT of books lately. Basically, as much as I can squeeze in between class and such. I recently finished one that was good, but could have been better and it left me with a rather specific craving ( Read more... )

random crap, books, ranting

I feel the same way, so I recommend you pick up "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins, which was pretty good.

I hear good things about "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" as well, but I haven't read that yet.

It's so hard to find quality books these days :(

I'll look into those. Thanks!

It's just so frustrating because I want to read a love story, but I don't want to wade through all the crap in the "romance" genre. Because ultimately, I want something where the love between characters is used to change them in some way, not just a cliche story of random people that you never really feel a connection to.

*sigh*

Hunger Games has a mild love story, but the books have an actual plot which is more along the lines of "OH SHIT OH SHIT WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE IN THIS POST-APOCALYPTIC VERSION OF BIG BROTHER"

I thought it was really original, and the characters are fleshed out and well-written. I really enjoyed the trilogy.

It does sound really cool, and it's definitely going on my "to read" list. :-)

Kushiel's Dart.

This is exactly the book you're asking for, while being absolutely nothing like what you want. No, seriously. The heroine is one of my favorite's and the bad-boy is a priest. Sort of. But he's still the biggest asshole ever, and spends a whole lot of time hating Phedre (the narrartor/heroine) and implying she's a whore. Which she sort of is, in the truest sense of the word. Bu kind of not.

Really, I can't explain it, but goddamn it's amazing. The world the writer created is complex and beautiful and the imagery is unbelieveable. READ IT. That is, as long as you don't mind lots o' sex, and lots of bdsm. :D

Hmmm...That looks VERY promising! I am definitely going to give it a try.

I normally have a lot of trouble accepting book recommendations from people because I have a very unique taste in books. But this search was so vague, I knew there was no way I'd be able to just stumble across something. So, thank you so much for the recommendation!
