Actually, post-lockdown when they finally decided to let us get fucking drinks, we had to take them to the crew room to drink. So in a way, yes.
But from what I heard, the rule was added because apparently a handful of grill people would take their sweet time getting drinks. I can name one such person, so that's correct. But instead of just writing those people up, you take away everyone's right to have a drink?
Sorry for jumping in, but I came over from AO3 looking for more Dresden goodness and this caught my eye. Now, I'm not sure what the labour laws where you are are like but, in Canada this would be illegal as fuck and you could sue the Hell out of them--even without the dehydration issue. *quick fact check* OSHA (section 12.b on the link) is pretty clear that to deny you the ability to relieve yourself violates their standards, so you could excuse yourself to go to the bathroom while on line and not be penalized. Not sure where they stand on the getting water issue, but if you have a medical history with dehydration, I'm thinkin their asses are on the line as soon as you make them aware of it. Lol employee rights fail :/

You are awesome. For the last hour I've been googling around to try and find what legal grounds I'd have here. This is a great link, thank you so much.
Also charging it with "that's total bullshit" which is no where near as helpful as Nix_this's link to actual law =)
And do you have a direct supervisor you can go to? or will you need to go to HR? That might be an important issue if you need to file for unemployment later.
I don't know if you live in the states or not, but I live and work in a fast food restaurant in Oregon and it is illegal for them to not allow you to use the bathroom if you need to, whether or not it's on your breaks
( ... )
Oh, and it may not help with the dehydration issue, but our grill people keep cold rags around their necks during the summer time to prevent passing out because our air conditioner doesn't work very well. I wonder if you could do that just to keep your body heat down enough to manage.
Because it's a dehydration issue though, I'm not sure if it would work at all.
