Happens in just about every podfic I listen to. My two favorites, one happening to be from an American fandom and one a British, have the opposite regional accents and it's still marvelous.
Coincidentally, I was thinking on getting into the podficcing business too :) Idle contemplation, but thinking nonetheless.
I'm an American and while I don't podfic myself, I listen to a lot of them, and the vast majority of my favorite readers are British or Australian or New Zealanders. So it's weird to hear them talking about Sam and Dean or about John Sheppard's love of football, but not in a bad way. I admit to being something of a whore for nifty accents, but still. I've never heard any complaints about fandom/accent mis-matches. *G*
I think it'd be awesome if you did some MGS podfic. I know I'd put it on my Zune and listen to it all the time. 83
That's very kind of you, but considering how stupidly long all my DW-EDA fic is, I'll say no. I can't even imagine how long reading the 50K one would take and you have college.
I was just thinking about this, and the thing is that after, oh, the first couple thousand words, an American listener would probably stop noticing an American accent anyway, as they're what we're used to. Whereas if you were Matt diAngelo, we'd all be scratching our heads...
And most of the EDA fans on LJ I know of are American. So.
