Your whole first 4 paragraphs is my opinion exactly. Yes, the plot and story have been done before, but it's a good interpretation of the theme, and I found it to be pretty enjoyable.

That said, I enjoyed the 3D bits, but mostly the details - the grass, the little seeds, and so on~ :3
