I have found that not many people actually Get It when I say I'm agoraphobic. Public opinion seems to believe it's an eccentric shut-in quirk, or the fear of open spaces, which is very incorrect. It is actually an extreme form of panic disorder.

You're a great person, Lu, and you are one of my dearest online friends. I don't think your agoraphobia is silly, because when you looks at the statistics for all the ways something horrible could happen, the odds are pretty high. It's reasonable, but there's so many things you miss out on if you don't take a risk. I'm sorry you're scared, and if there's anything I can do, if I need to give you space or anything like that, let me know.
And to your Shannon-self, I'm okay with sitting outside your bedroom door talking to you if you're okay with it.

I want to say "stop being scared of us! We like you!" but I understand as much as I can that...it so doesn't count. That's not the point, and it's not how it works.
What you do accomplish, and how much you do reach out, sounds like an accomplishment, and a well-earned one, and I'm happy that you can manage as much as you do, because that way I got to meet you even a little bit.
So keep on going as best as you can. The world can be a scary place, but there are friendly people in it wishing you the best, and I'd like to put myself forward as one of them.
It's very brave of you to post this post, that's for sure. Good luck to you.
