A quick and dirty little player plot

Dec 28, 2011 20:56

All righty! Now that the three of us have been able to coordinate our schedules, I have an announcement regarding one Rupert Giles for people to take note of, starting from the 26th to...call it the 8th of January, when I'm still planning to have him mallynapped.

So, as probably all of you who knows Giles probably know, he is very good friends with ( Read more... )

(Testing comment posting on the Kindle...)

I'm wondering where to fit Jay in here. I don't suppose Dhaos will be present, will he?

And aww, I didn't know Dhaos cared about Grune that much. XD

Dhaos will be doing his best to stay out of the picture, actually, specifically because he does not want Grune to know he did this, ever. However, I think Jay is the Legendia castmate with the most common interaction between these two. It probably won't take Grune long to figure out that Giles is avoiding her. He might be able to act as a go-between? He'd certainly have the best chance of talking to Giles.

I like the sound of that.

Apparently Fenimore and Norma are going to be assailing House 44 to chew Giles out about this. Maybe Jay could come by as a sort of "slightly calmer follow up"? Compared to Fenimore and Norma especially, Giles would be much more willing to talk with him then.

Robert's going to be seeking Giles out a lot more at this time, coincidentally enough, because of Don being on a mission. :|a Think Giles would be trying to avoid him? And if so, would you want to do something with that? :3

Robert? No, probably not. Robert no longer falls into that category of "people Giles thinks are too good to associate with him." He will, however, probably try to avoid Helios. It won't be a very successful attempt, but he'll try. Robert might be able to act as a go-between there, by virtue of not being avoided.

He definitely would try, because even he might notice these changes. And he'll notice if Helios is being avoided, too.

Might be interesting if Robert confronts him. 8D

He probably will. Especially later on - the spell' effects on its victims grow more noticeable as time goes by, although Giles won't be affected nearly long enough to suffer the usual mental deterioration. So, yes, Robert is free to try, and might be in a better position to do so.

Ginia's reaction can be summed up as "what the fuck?!" and some "b-b-but Giles! Grune! D:"

A good and appropriate reaction to this entire event, to be honest. As you might expect, he'll feel horrible once he's come to his senses.

Ginia he will not be avoiding, by the way, although she'll probably still notice some personality changes.

And then he's mallynapped and brought back a vampire.

I was going to ask about that! Because while their personalities are different enough, they also have some very similar traits and actions. But good to know. The reflection is going to freak her out so much.

Precisely. Their personalities and their past actions are similar enough that Giles can think of Ginia as his moral "equal", much as he loves her. However, whereas before he's viewed that as something of a blessing between the two of them - having someone to understand - that mentality might take on a much more cynical edge while he's under the effects of the spell.

Link is an especially complicated situation here that I have been thinking hard on. I am going to say he's somewhere in between. Yes, he is an innocent, but he's also someone Giles trusts as a friend and he's shown himself to need Giles in the past - whereas Giles can assume that CR like Fuuko, Grune, or Seto have other friends to look after them, he knows that he's an important parental figure in Link's life and his sense of responsibility will eventually win out over the spell.

The closeness to Grune will be an additional complication.

I figure that Link is in a prime position to notice that something is wrong. Identifying Dhaos as the culprit is going to be all but impossible, unless Link has some magic you've never told me about. Otherwise? Link can be as involved as you want him to be. I'll have a post up after the 1st of the year, maybe, where we can deal with things properly. Or possibly a log.

due to my holiday hiatus and as per saralinda's last ooc comm post, buffy is outside the village until about the 2nd and i think by then we'll have a better read re: whether we're moving to dw or not -- want to plan something logish for these two after that point? i craaaaaave buffy and giles interaction once things are oocly settled.

I'm hoping we'll have a better idea, then I can get matters for the vampire plot sorted!

Once Giles is made aware that something is going on with him - enough people pointing out the same change in his reflection can't reasonably be ignored - then something logish should definitely happen. The reflection is an obvious effect that she'll probably notice, and this might even tip off her Slayer senses.

"Part the Veil" is one of the few spells Buffy has successfully managed alone, if I recall correctly, so he'd trust her to use it on him to see if she could detect anything. According to North, she would be able to see the effects, but we haven't figured it if she could trace the spell back to Dhaos.

i would LOVE for her to have the chance to get involved with 'part the veil' -- yes, it's one of the absolute scant few she's managed solo. once she's back in town she'll probably contact giles immediately so we may be able to tentatively pencil in a log for the 2nd, if you're amenable!

I should be amenable to the 2nd, game allowing. I'll still be on break and a few days away from air travel. The 2nd will also give him enough time to realize that he really is freaking people out, so he'd be in a mental place to propose the spell.

Sounds like a plan! Glad to have you on board!
