I think a big reason why the population is so young is that video games are probably the most popular medium and they usually star characters ranging in age from 14-18. Then anime/manga is next and is very similar.
Man, this guy just makes everything difficult because he's so weird and canon doesn't explain him very well sometimes. :|;; Based on the one time his face is seen in the manga, his hair is still all black but he has some line around his eyes, so I'd probably put him as appearing to be in his 40s.
As for species... I don't even know. He's not human and he's not a demon, and I don't know if you could call him a shinigami or not, but he lives in the underworld and doesn't seem to age...
For now, I'm leaning towards saying Shinigami, since he does deal with Death and stuff. :|b Alternatively, just put "INVISIBLE MAN THING" and we'll get the idea.

I'm always amazed to see how young the character population is in Luceti. Even if, you know, it was a ICly discussion point years ago.

Just a minor update: Neku Sakuraba should now be in the 16-17 range (he's 17 now), instead of the 13-15. Same goes for Shiki Misaki as well (she' 16).

Edit: Frey is 17 now, not 16.
