In regards to the battle itself:

DRAFT AND ENEMY DETAILS HERE

This draft will begin in the morning of August 25th and run until the night of August 29th.

  • First and foremost, MOST -IF NOT ALL- OF THE FIGHTING WILL BE ASSUMED; in other words, without mods playing the NPCs. If you absolutely must -MUST- play out something of great importance, please let me know and I'll provide an NPC, we can set up a log, something. But please, unless you need it for a specific purpose, don't ask for NPC battles. It will be largely uneventful and full of your character kicking ass and taking names and knocking down buildings and enemies, etc etc. This is to give you guys some freedom as well as keep us from a) getting overloaded and/or b) holding you back.

  • This battle will be two-tiered. Part 1 will take place entirely on the ocean, en route to the destination. All draftees will be split between three boats. Transportation (a nice mixture of boats and jet skis) between the ships will be available, and most of the piloting will be handled by onboard droids who have been programmed to follow orders from draftee-designated captains. They won't help with the battle, but they will stay out of the way and protect the cargo from anyone who threatens to tamper with it, draftees included. If someone happens to breach the cargo, they may find it familiar: food, supplies, and equipment that might be used to supply a small community. Like, oh, say, Luceti. Don't stress about having droids destroyed, by the way- either the rest will compensate for loss or draftees can step in to help. Whatever floats your boat. (Hurr hurr.)

  • The main ship is a large cargo ship with the majority of crew quarters as well as the targeted cargo itself. All characters will wake up in their designated quarters on this ship, and from there they can be delagated to the other ships. As usual, the rooms are equipped with Shifting technology to bring in draftee requests, but there is no garage for large requests (like, say, a mecha or a plane). That'll come later, so please make do with what you can! Requests will be shut down when attacks are under way, but draftees can ask for whatever they need at any other time. There's also a little cafeteria/meeting area in the upper level if you want to settle down between battles, and a medical center nearby. This ship would primarily be for the main defense force, non-combatants, and healers/doctors, though of course you're welcome to move around freely.

  • The other two are essentially oldschool battleships - a mixture of wood and metal, of old fashion and new technology. Powered by both engines and Shifting magic, the boats are able to adapt and move to most of the Third Party's attempts at halting them, though sometimes the Shift canceling soldiers are able to disable both at once; at that point, it's forced to rely on the sails. A healthy mix of experienced draftees should be on each ship, in order to combat all of these situations. ...Either that or people who are really good at winging it, >_> The battleships have smaller, communal quarters for people who choose to stay, but there isn't much room, so draftees will have to share and swap places with the watchers at night. Rations are available, since the quarters aren't equipped with the little luxuries of the cargo boat. Most of the boat is reserved for battle equipment (cannons, weapons, explosives) and ammunition. There is also a large generator near the back engine. If this generator is destroyed, the ship will be forced to rely fully on the sails. (If it's only damaged, though, the droids might be able to repair it.)

  • Part 2 will begin on Day 3 (AKA August 27th) at around mid-morning, when the ships reach the shores of a small harbour, mostly deserted, but peppered with droids here and there awaiting cargo. There are several docks available, and the cargo boat will try to dock automatically. The Third Party will continue to target the cargo, so the battleship defense will be needed even more. Battles on the beach can take place as the droids (and any draftees able and willing to help) unload, sort, and transport the cargo away from the ship and to a safer location. This is where yours mechas and planes can be brought in! If characters have already requested them, they'll appear somewhere on the beach. Beyond the beach are several buildings- a secondary medical center, less advanced, but efficient enough. Most of the buildings will be used for storing and sorting the cargo, and they are somewhat protected by the forest extending from the beach outwards for miles. The forest is easy to get lost in, so be careful not to go too far. Easy to get ambushed when trapped alone in the woods.

  • A few things that the droids are programmed to do: in the case of a mutiny or an attempt to use the ship to escape into the open ocean, they will shut down the ship entirely, locking it in place and leaving it vulnerable. If the lock remains in place for longer than ten minutes, the ship will detonate. They'd rather lose the cargo than lose their subjects |D A countdown will be supplied to help the mutineers change their minds. Droids will not speak unless an order causes some sort of error, such as the captain ordering them to make the ship do something it can't do. (For example, if Captain Jack Sparrow were to order the ship to fly to Never Never Land, he'd get a blankface and an error message.) Unless the cargo is attacked, the droids will not touch, threaten, or hurt any passenger.

  • The Third Party attacks will come in waves. Usually they will not attack at night, but it might still happen at some point. It won't be endless fighting, at least, since it takes time for the Third Party to catch up to the trio of Malnosso ships. And speaking of ships, why are the Third Party able to catch up so quickly? Well, their ships can fly. They're equipped for aquatic battle, and they can't fly so high that they're out of range, so the draftees' first goal is to take them out of the sky for some fancy sailing warfare. Each wave will contain one or two ships. They will attack both directly (AKA flying over to the ships) and indirectly, using ammunition to combat the draftee ships, so it'll require group effort all around. Types of soldiers vary as usual- normals, Elites, and Shifters. No Shift Hunters this time, though- they don't like boats. D| Though some might be brought along once the beach battles start, so keep an eye out...

  • One last thing: the wildlife. These oceans are not entirely friendly, and those residing within it don't particularly enjoy cannonballs being exchanged over their heads. Sharks, whales, some familiar sea monsters from character canons, and........ Well. HAVE FUN, KIDS. I've got a jar of diiiirt

  • In case anyone is wondering, the weather during the voyage will be fair overall, but from early-early on the 27th until reaching the beach, a heavy storm will definitely make things interesting for everyone. And certain sea monsters like to hang out around those islands... yep, that's going to be a fun night.

  • IC announcement is posted HERE.

Feel free to toss more questions or commentary here!

OH BEFORE I FORGET- IN REGARDS TO THE LOGS COMMUNITY. We've decided to allow people to create their own character tags, so you don't have to keep asking us to make them. That means that when creating a log, if there is no tag for your character, you can just type it in! Please use the following format, to keep it uniform:

[canon] character name

Hopefully this will simplify things. Please don't abuse this privilege, silly tags are for your character journals only. Thanks, guys!
