Who: Van (celestialelegy) and Luke (wingedreplica) What: A meeting. When: This afternoon Where: By the lake Summary: Things have changed. Van wishes to discuss them, among other things. Rating: PG for now. ( An actual meeting was best )
When it was time to go and see his former teacher, Luke tucked his journal into his belt and left house number 7 after saying bye to Asch. His response had been a snort. Just letting it roll off of his shoulders, as Luke seemed to be doing more and more these days in Luceti, the boy closed the door and headed for the lake. He had been there lots of times, and he already knew the path he liked to take the best
( ... )
Van looked back when he heard the sound of Luke's voice. "Ah, Luke. You came." He made himself put on a smile as he walked toward him.
"You won't need to call me Master now." He kept his voice low, but warm. He wanted to try and seem more like the man Luke used to think he was. "Van will do."
Remembering his own wings, he pulled them as tight as he could against his back. He would rather not have Luke comment on how that color looked on him.
"Yeah, well, you asked right?" Luke answered, walking up closer to Van and looking up at him. Luke still hadn't grown any, and the older man was as tall as he ever was. It was still as intimidating as ever too.
Reaching up and scratching at the back of his head, Luke smiled a little, "I know... I guess it's just an old habit that I can't get rid of. But I'll try to stick to Van from now on." He lowered his arm and turned, looking out over the lake as the midday sun caused it to sparkle.
"Of course." Van chuckled and followed Luke's gaze out toward the lake. It really was a gorgeous sight, more gorgeous than one would expect from a 'cage.' Then again, one never should trust mere appearances...
"I wanted to speak with you about the favor." Van turned back to Luke and pulled out his own journal, flicking through as he looked for the right pages. "If I were to return without any memories of Luceti, I likely wouldn't trust you on your words alone." Then when he found the entry he was looking for, he tore all the pages of it out of the journal and held them out to Luke. "I want you to show this to me."
The entry in question was when he began to doubt himself, and began to ask if people could change. His past self never would have wasted the time. Hopefully seeing his own handwriting doubt himself would help Luke make his case.
He didn't want to be the stubborn man he was again.
Luke watched as Van flipped through the pages, listening to his response. As the pages were torn out and handed to him, the boy reached out and took them gingerly. He was still surprised that Van was trusting him with this sort of thing. He was trusting Luke to remind him of the changes he had gone through should anything ever happen to him.
It gave Luke an almost nostalgic feeling, something warm in his chest that hadn't been there in a long time. Despite everything that had happened, somewhere deep inside, it was still a wonderful feeling to be accepted by his sword master.
Luke glanced down at the writing on the pages, read a little, and then looked up. He gave Van a confident nod, "Got it... I'll take good care of these."
