Lenalee smiled, crossing the room and putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I know it's a little late, but happy birthday, Daisya. ...I also had no idea what kind of cake you would like...so Allen and I made three." Which would explain the flour spots still on her shirt.
"Of course I remembered." She led him towards the largest cake - chocolate with strawberries on it - and handed him the knife to cut it. "I was such a...such a wreck on your actual birthday that it slipped my mind, but once I realized that..."
Impulsively, she stepped closer and hugged him tightly. "You deserve this, Daisya," she whispered. She'd said as much to Lavi while they planned this - they should all be happy he was here with them to celebrate.
"Hey Dai-man! Made ya somethin' special!" Duo'd spent the last couple days since he heard about the surprise party trying to figure out the right way to make a special kind of pizza. First he'd had to learn to fish, then had to learn to clean the nasty little things, and finally how to grill them. He was happy with the result though when he was able to hand Daisya a little pizza with grilled fish topping the cheese. "Ya like fish right? I hope I heard that right."
Duo laughed and slung an arm around the birthday boy. "You look like you need ta sit down before ya fall over. Guess we surprised ya real good." He shoved the pizza at the other boy. "Go on. Took me forever ta figure out how ta make this. Not what I'd call a usual pizza, but it way better than anchovies! Tell me what ya think."
Sheena hung back, at a table near the door in case she needed to go. She still wasn't feeling her best, but it would be worse for her to not show up to this. Daisya had become a close friend and she wanted to be here for him.
On the chair next to her, hidden under the tablecloth, was the wrapped box containing his gift.
That smile was contagious. "I'm okay, yeah. I've been kinda...not feeling well for a couple of days, though. I was supposed to make curry for this, and I'm really sorry I couldn't get to it." Sheena shrugged. "Some other time, I swear."
Of course, to a party Elda couldn't resist going. A party populated by humans (plus one idiot vampire who thought he was a hunter, what the hell was up with that?) was the issue. As such, like the sneaky old lady that she is, she appeared onto the scene through one of the upper story windows, then walked on the rafters a bit before silently depositing herself on the main floor. All the food here would be tasteless, of course, but she couldn't deny that one or two of the patrons smelled good... besides, she had another thing in mind for tonight, hidden in a little bag at her side.
Of course, one of Elda's natural abilities/talents was that none of her movements ever made any sound, so it was a laugh which was somehow like windchimes, but still carrying, which signaled she was there.
"Well why wouldn't I be here?" She grinned sheepishly, though it was probably quite clear to both of them that she normally wouldn't attend a human's birthday party. Still... Whatever. She was here right?
Kamui rushed to the bakery as fast as he could, hoping he was not late. He had a loaf of freshly baked banana bread, with a little shark drawn in chocolate on top of it since Daisya had told him that he liked both banana bread and shark, in the basket hanging round his arm.
He was out of breath by the time he got there. "...H-happy Birthday, Daisya!"
Kamui smiled back a bit sheepishly at him. "I'm sorry I got everyone so worried... I wasn't feeling well but I'm alright now! Everything is fine. Here! I've got you something." He handed him the covered basket. "It's fresh from the oven. I hope it tastes as nice as the ones you make."
