[Though well aware of Richard's plans to throw a surprise party for Isamu, Hubert still winds up giving the streamers a long look when he comes back inside. Energetic and eager characters like Pascal aside, it's an interesting thought even now that they'd hold a party of all things in the house. He's not going to be able to hole himself up in his room for peace and quiet today.

Celebrating "growing older" in Luceti, huh . . . ]

[Isamu will just be sprawled on the sofa, trying to look displeased and failing by this point.

He gives Hubert a wave.]

[Hubert lowers his head with a hand to his glasses -- a sort of half nod as a return greeting.]

How is the party, Sir Isamu?

[ingrate]

Quiet, thankfully.

[He shrugs.] I don't like big gatherings.

[mistyarc]

Did you expect otherwise?

[He's pegged Isamu as the type to keep selective company, but admittedly he hasn't gotten to know the man much outside of the basics.]

Nah, not really. Unless Richard was really feeling like getting his ass kicked or something.

[Not that Isamu would probably actually do any ass kicking even then...]

[Could Richard have controlled if more people than Isamu would have liked came? Hmm. Anyway.

Nodding, Hubert wordlessly takes a seat on one side of the sofa and pulls out a red book, then begins writing on it with a quill he procures from his pocket. Just minding his own business, here.]

What, that's all?

[Isamu wads up a bit of wrapping paper and chucks it at Hubert's head.]

At least have some cake or something.

[The wad of wrapping paper hits his head and falls to the side lifelessly. The only reaction Hubert allows is the slight creasing of his brows.]

Have you had any?

[ingrate]

Dude, Sanji made it. Of course I've had some.

[He can tease the chef all he wants, but he's really the best to be found here when it comes to cooking.]

Sanji . . .

[Ah, yes. Him. Hubert simply continues writing.]

Then you can have more.

[Hey now. Hubert doesn't get to say his name like that. Sanji's a bro.

Isamu stands up abruptly and walks over to the table, cutting a small piece of cake and setting it on a plate before returning. Said food is then stuck right under Hubert's nose.]

[Watch out, Hubert, because here comes a smiling Richard holding a noisemaker, which he's going to offer to the other man.]

You're just in time for the party.

[ . . . what is that. No, he knows what it is, but Hubert gives the noisemaker a less than agreeable look and raises a hand to his glasses. ]

For Sir Isamu, yes?

That's right. We can't let his 19th birthday pass by without a celebration of some sort.

[And he's... still holding out that noisemaker. Come on, Hubert, don't be a spoil sport and take it.]

His 19th birthday, is it . . .

[All right, all right. Another moment of staring, then he -- not takes, but picks at -- the noisemaker and eyes it as though he's not certain what to do with it. His expression is flat, but the way his lips are pursed indicate as much.]
