Day 2 and onward

[. . . he doesn't understand 3/4 of this. This completely throws off his plan to write some sort of proper apology for his (literally) childish behavior before. Given his current state where he can't recognize a single word in the book, Hubert decides to put it off a little longer and change into something different, then stare at the journal some more. Great thing to wear outside, yes? Especially with the topmost button of the shirt unbuttoned, because he's going out and not caring about the cold weather in the slightest. Never mind the snow that starts falling later in the week

Day 3, morning

[Good morning, fellow floormate. Cheria has also been sleeping on the living room floor, starting the first night. She kept hearing cursing and very angry remarks coming from her bedroom wall. For some reason, the living room floor seemed like the best place for her to sleep after that. She did, however, bring her pillow and a blanket.]

[Hubert is up, but hasn't quite yet budged from his spot in favor of keeping Tiger Festival company. He looks to Cheria, who isn't all that far from him. Boy, doesn't she look comfortable. Warmer, anyway.]

[Cheria is slowly awakening as well, as she rolls over onto her back in hopes of getting more comfortable, only to fail miserably. Why hadn't she thought to bring her mattress out here as well? Then she turns her head to glance over at her 'roommate'.]

Oh... Good morning, Hubert.

[mistyarc]

[For a moment, all he does is regard her quietly before nodding upon being greeted. He's more or less fine with this arrangement, but she seemed a tad uncomfortable.]

Good morning. Did you sleep well?

Not as well as I would've liked... But until the unfortunate... ah... problem with my bedroom is resolved, I don't have much of a choice.

[Nevermind that she could just as well sleep on the couch, or in Sophie's room. Nope. That simply doesn't occur to her as being valid options.]

How did you sleep?

[Ah, yes. Cheria's bedroom problem. He nods.]

Well enough. It wasn't as cold as I expected it to be.

[Maybe that time in Fendel actually paid off, despite his lack of layers.]

Yes... The heating system in these houses is very good.

[To think they relied on fireplaces and furnaces, back in Efinea. This system spreads the heat far more evenly.]

[ So it seems like a new experiment in underway given how odd people have been acting. It's most likely the result of those horoscopes being posted by some people over their journals. Still seeing Hubert in the library gets Helios' attention. He might be walking over seeing as how Hubert is just staring at them. ] Are you looking for a particular book by any chance?

[ Helios practically lives in the library at times so he knows where things are. ]

[ Hubert looks up and promptly straightens, fixing his glasses. He doesn't quite look at Helios. It's partly out of shame. ]

No, it's that . . .

[ He is never going to say, "I can't read." ]

Oh! I-I didn't mean to bother you then. Y-you just looked a bit...lost.

[ Hm. Well if anyone knows how it is not to be able to read it's Helios. Four months without being about to was not a fun experience he'd like to go through again. ]

[mistyarc]

[ Did he . . . this isn't good. His dilemma was showing on the outside. ]

. . . I confess that I'm uncertain about what material to read.

[ Mostly because there's only so much he can read. Nothing. All he can probably do is stare at picture books. ]

Ah, well, there is a lot to choose from I'll admit. Anything you're particularly interested in learning?

[ Helios will walk over to the nearest shelf a cold finger running along the spines of various books. ] I suppose it all depends on your tastes!

[mistyarc]

[ There's a considerable pause from Hubert before he answers. Even if he were to state his tastes in literature, it wouldn't help. ]

Perhaps something simple, for the time being.

[ Hm. Simple... ] How about some of the young adult books? They have quite an expansive collection.

[mistyarc]

[ Well. He probably won't be able to read it now, but he can always make notes for later. ]

What do you suggest?
