Saleh was just in the middle of a routine patrol of the forest, complete with his staff and his sack full of blankets and other warm clothing to lend to any freezing newcomers. When he unknowingly stepped into one of the snares, the trap was sprung, and his feet were suddenly yanked off the ground. Caught by surprise, he promptly dropped the staff and the bundle he had carried, but his focus was now on the rope binding his feet.

"What in the world...?

"Saleh?!" This---was definitely not a turkey. Jack strode through the underbrush, whacking it out of the way with his sword, until he was positioned just by those dropped belongings.

"Bugger, mate! You're all tied up!"

Hearing his name, Saleh glanced over at the pirate, glaring. The timing of his arrival was too impeccable to be a coincidence.

"Jack...what is the meaning of this?"

Was this the pirate's new way of "marauding?"

"Meaning...meaning.......Are you trying to draw meaning from it, lad? Oooor might it just be one of those odd random happenstances what really means nothing at all?"

Yes, he was going to be difficult about this.

Here have Starscream the largest chicken in the universe! itisloooord November 19 2011, 17:51:43 UTC
It's a very big...not bird or plane, at the moment, but a Decepticon! Though feel free to think he is a very strange looking bird this incarnation is without the chicken feet though. That's right. Jack and his crew might stumble across Starscream looking pissed off, not that he won't be looking like that for awhile, as those heavy footfalls through the forest suggest he is looking for something. He's probably just mapping out the area just to get his bearings at the moment. When suddenly something snags his foot and in mid-step he'll stop abruptly. Why is there rope around his foot?!

Jack Sparrow has no idea what a Decepticon is. That is why, when he rounds a clump of beech trees in search of one of his snares, he stops short and just...stares. Why is the large metal thing standing in the forest?

Of course he doesn't! Pathetic lumps of flesh that humans are, psh! And the large metal thing is standing in the forest because he can't obviously go into town, now can he? Or, well, actually he could but that would mean more stares from humans...and more annoying questions. Still Starscream will give the snare one light tug and it'll snap off like a overly stretched rubber band.

"Hallo, large giantish thing." Jack is beginning to back away behind the trees once more. He is a pirate. Pirates do not mess with giant metal men.

Armstrong walked through the woods enjoy the fresh air, the cool crispness, and the scent of trees. It reminded him of Amestris, just a bit.

He really wasn't expecting the sudden pull of a rope snapping around his ankle. Yanked off balance Armstrong was pulled into the air.

...Or at least partially. He blinked as he realized that the tree the trap was attached to was simply not strong enough to lift him (all 7'3", heavily muscled weight of him) completely off the ground.

Instead his head and shoulder were resting at an uncomfortable angle on the ground. Armstrong lifted himself up on his hands, because his neck was starting to hurt, and pondered his situation.

"This is most unusual."

((ooc; ...Had too. Just, too good to pass up.))

the character is kicking and screaming, but have her anyway! thedicearecast November 20 2011, 01:20:21 UTC
The wintery forest held a particular appeal for Amelia; the contrast of white snow with what green was left on the trees was too vibrant to pass off, and completely unheard of on Gunsmoke. As horrible as the Malnosso were to their captives, the nature was straight out of her childhood fantasies. She made her way through the woods in a state of near-awe, savoring the unfamiliar tranquility of it all.

...Right up until she ran into some massive guy hanging from a tree. Or maybe it was the other way around? Hard to tell, given how huge the man was.

One thing Amelia did know right off? She didn't want to know. Bad enough that what she'd already seen was already burned into her memory. Thank you random coincidence (and Jack Sparrow, whose name she might have been cursing had she known it was his fault). No need to make it worse with details, and Amelia sharply turns around to leave.

Armstrong is still puzzling over what Exactly he should do when the woman appeared.

"Ah, hello Miss!" He even waved, supporting his weight with one hand briefly. "Nice day out."

...Just because Alex was hanging upside down doesn't mean he couldn't indulge in small talk.

"Could I trouble you to help me out?"

Caught. Amelia froze in place when the man called out to her. "Yeah. Lovely." At least her back was turned, so the man couldn't see how she cringed when he asked for help.

"That's going to depend on just what kind of help you're looking for." Maybe she could just shoot him if it was something perverted. Lord knew, there wasn't much chance of her missing with all that bulk.

Medli isn't used to being around forests, or the snow, so she sets out one morning to take the chance to properly explore them. It's good exercise anyway, she tells herself, and remaining cooped up in her new lodgings would be bad for the mind and spirit! Besides, she picked up a nice gray parka and pair of mittens when she last went shopping, so it's not like she's going to freeze. Although, perhaps, it would have been a good idea to buy something to cover her legs instead of just throwing the parka on over her usual dress. Oh well.

She's enjoying the walk in spite of the chill, the quiet but for the sounds of the birds and the sun peering down through the clouds and evergreens, when the world unexpectedly becomes a colorful blur and the ground becomes the sky and the silence becomes her very undignified shriek. This is one of those experiments Link mentioned, isn't it? Without her noticing, they've rotated her eyes. Evil ( ... )

Jack runs toward the shriek when he hears it; he might be a brigand and a criminal and a black-hearted pirate, but Jack isn't above at least checking out what might be wrong and trying to right it. He groans inwardly, though, when he sees that his snare has not caught its intended prey, but instead a girl.

"Mistress---!?"

He walks toward her, trying not to alarm her further.

Unfortunately, what Jack had forgotten was that he had set another snare right close by to the one Medli was caught in. With a "BUGGER!" and a snap, the pirate finds himself hanging by one leg beside her.

".......Hallo."

When she sees a man approaching her from the woods, she stops squirming for a moment (all the swaying's making her dizzy anyway) and smiles sheepishly.

"Oh, have you come to rescue me? I seem to have got myself caught in this stra-"

And then the man is upside-down. Or, rather, right-side up.

"-nge contraption. Um. Hello."
