Day Two! (With a little more logic!) lightningcute November 17 2011, 09:48:18 UTC
[Pao-lin's up in a tree picking out mikans when she hears...sounds...coming from behind her. She turns and peers through the leaves, and that's when she sees Katara doing her snowbending, laying down the first row of blocks around the clump of trees that Pao-lin's planning to cover. Better let this girl know she's still here.

She climbs as far out on her tree branch as she dares and calls out:] Hi, I'm still working on these trees!

Oh! [She gives the girl a quick smile.] Okay!

[And she'll start to move on. After all, with those trees getting cleared off, there's no reason to continue to protect them. But rather than regather all the snow and start from scratch, she begins dismantling the wall - first turning it into water to for ease of shape and transport.]

[Now there's a trick Pao-lin hasn't seen before. Blue Rose can create ice, but it doesn't seem like she can melt it. Hope you don't mind a little questioning into your powers, Katara.]

Oooh, how'd you do that?

[Katara just assumes Pao-lin means the manipulation of the water - and her answer would probably be the same if she knew the specifics of the questions as well.]

Hmm? Oh, I'm a waterbender. [She smiles as she continues to build up a snow igloo around the next patch of trees but spares a moment to glance at the girl.] I don't think we've met before? My name's Katara.

I'm Pao-lin! [She tilts her head.] A waterbender, huh? I know a girl here who says she's an earthbender -- are you two from the same world?

Probably! I haven't heard of any other cultures with benders in my time here. What was her name?

Toph. I met her a while ago, and recently she volunteered to help out with the mural project I'm planning.

[Glad smirk.]

Volunteered to help? Maybe it's not the same Toph.

[But really, she's glad that Toph is making friends. Doing something besides those 'manliness lessons' which she really should have stopped... except that she kind of agreed with Toph's point so. Yeah. Anyway, moving on.]

What mural project?

We're putting up a mural near the Welcome Center in like a week or so. I thought it'd be nice to have something to do to take people's minds off what happened last month. Toph agreed to raise a stone wall for us to paint on, and a shelter so that we wouldn't be too cold while we were painting.

[She grins.] Well, it's not the first time she's done something like that. [Of course I had to bribe her...]

But a mural sounds like a really good idea! Have you gotten a lot of people who say that they want to come?

[Not to worry, Katara, Pao-lin will have to pay her dues eventually.]

Actually, yeah! I was surprised. A lot of people wanted to help out and contribute, even though they say that they're not really good with artistic stuff.

That sounds nice! I hope it goes well. I'll make sure to come by and see it.

I'd love to see you there! It's a mural that's meant for everyone, so the more people that paint something, the better.
