around the village, then heading to the tunnels close to the end

[After recovering from the shock of seeing "Rotwang" in Luceti, Pao-lin faces the impending destruction of Luceti with a renewed sense of determination. She barely gets any rest or sleep as she spends most of her time either helping people get to the tunnels or firing off blasts of lightning at the moon threatening to crash into the village, hoping to push it back or destroy it.

Is she scared of dying? Fuck yeah she is. Even if dying in Luceti means she'll be brought back eventually, she doesn't exactly relish the thought of actually dying in the first place.

But she's a Hero. She won't back down, and she won't stop fighting or helping people. She's going to keep on keeping on 'til the very end.]

[Hubert sees Pao-lin escorting people to the tunnels from a distance as he does the same, and it's only much, much later that he crosses paths with her somewhere in the village. Slowing his pace and steadying his breath from running all around the village, he calls out to her.]

Are there still many more people left to evacuate?

[Pao-lin wipes some sweat from her face as she glances in Hubert's direction.]

I don't think so. [She looks up at the moon filling the sky overhead.] By now, anyone who's still in the village is here because they want to be.

[Hubert keeps his gaze trained on her as Pao-lin looks up, not at all eager to see the moon looming just overhead.]

All that's left is to secure the supplies, then.

[She nods.]

Yeah. I guess we'll have to go to the shops, then. Unless there's a pile of supplies lying around somewhere else that need to be transported?

The shops.

Although we have some time left, we should make haste.

[lightningcute]

[She nods again, and takes off in the direction of the shops without waiting to see if Hubert's following. Her destination is the grocery store -- she's going to stock up on canned goods and bottled water, if there's any left.]

[He does follow suit, quietly so. They need to be on the move, and they can't afford to waste their breath chatting. Rather, they need it to keep chugging onward, and to get back on time.]

[The grocery store isn't as empty as Pao-lin expected it to be. She grabs a basket and scurries over to the soups and canned foods aisle. She's actually not entirely sure what, exactly, is needed, but this is the kind of stuff that food pantries asked for back home, so she figures they're a safe bet.]

[Although Hubert isn't entirely familiar with canned consumables, he's been in Luceti long enough to have been exposed to them and even used them on a couple occasions. He grabs two baskets, himself, and follows her to the aisle where he looks at what's there.

[Pao-lin tosses a couple of cans of soup into her basket before something occurs to her.]

D'you think they've brought hot plates down to the tunnels? [They must've -- building a fire down there doesn't seem like the safest choice to her.]

[Hot plates, hot plates, what are those -- ah.]

They should have. [He tosses some cans into one of the baskets, then stops.] We can bring some if you have doubts.

[She nods a bit distractedly. Soup, vegetables, sauce, some canned fruits, and Pao-lin's done with this aisle. Her basket's pretty full already -- the weight of it is going to give her problems soon, even for a girl as fit as herself. She frowns down at it, wondering if maybe she should switch out a few items for something lighter...]

[Just as he fills up the second basket halfway from across, he takes notice of Pao-lin's expression and calls out. Is something missing, or off?]

What is it?

It's going to be kind of a walk down there in the tunnels...I don't think I'll be able to carry things like this. But we should bring as many supplies as possible...

[mistyarc]

I'll take that basket, then. [He gestures to the baskets at his side, which aren't as packed as hers.] These are likely lighter.

This load should be more than sufficient for the first run, though we may not have the time for another.
