Who: Everyone! What: Everything! When: Whenever! Where: Everywhere! Summary: The draft has been announced, and the players have their parts. Time to get ready. Rating: It'll probably vary

[The day before the draft means there's a lot to do. She wakes early up after a light sleep and spends about an hour or so on her floor just stretching and mentally preparing herself.
Right. There are people to visit. Supplies to gather. Possibly more strategy talks to be had... and she still needs to cast her vote for this captaincy thing. So this morning-to-afternoon Katara will be all over the village, up North by the Straw Hats, popping in to at least say goodbye to Certain Ninja Friends, dropping by the Freedom Fighters, possibly visiting the Heart Pirates... and stopping and saying hello to everyone she sees if they pass by.
Also, she's on a mission. She doesn't like Yue being in the house with just Momo and Hawky. She hasn't decided just who she is going to ask yet, but she knows she's going to ask some people to drop in on her, maybe even invite her over
( ... )
[Katara's grin widens and she streams the water back into her waterskin.] That's great!
Now, see your stance just like that? That's what you need to be thinking of when you're on the ship. Don't lock your knees and keep your center of balance here [she plants her fist just above her stomach and just below her breasts]. After you've been on the waves for a while you'll adapt to it naturally, but until then just keep your sense of balance inside yourself instead of waiting for the world to make sense.
[Is she just talking about sea legs? Probably.]
Plus, on a big enough ship? You'll have to be on a huge storm to even feel the difference, it takes care of the center of gravity all by itself. You'll be fine.
[ as the water slips back into its container, buffy straightens. amazingly, this is the sort of thing she'd been needing to hear. jack had been rather clear about her relative inexperience and it had troubled her deeply. ]
Just you wait. I'll give all those sailors a run for their money. And their hats. I think they care more about their hats than they do the money. Sailing. It's one big hat thing.
[Oh man. Snerk.] No, it's fine. I guess it was going to happen anyway. You should have seen the hat he wore when we were [slight falter - does she not remember the name? Had it been so long?] - at this one village.
On the flip side, he totally picked out this way cute dress for me to wear to Daw--to this party, at Good Spirits. So he's not all cheese. That's a relief.
[...yeah, she heard that 'Daw' too. But she knows what she'd feel like if Sokka got sent back home. She doesn't know Buffy that well. She feels like the best thing she can do is... let that go.]
People rarely are, I think. [But when they are, they really really are. She shrugs.]
I'm not really that into shopping. I'm not used to having so much stuff around.
[This Fire Nation outfit she has on? Cute, right? She totally stole it off a clothes line.]
Works for Sokka, anyway. [A quirk of a smile.] Although I have to admit the 'swimsuits' from other worlds are pretty great. Even if they go up pretty high, I've never seen material like that before. I collected a whole bunch over the summer. [Like. Six. But for Katara that's a lot, ok? She's probably got more changes of swimsuits than she does practical every-day clothes at this point.]
I get mine made by Shiki. You can never have too many cute suits. It's -- it might actually be a rule. Unfortunately? I don't think a killer bikini'll be part of the dress code, tomorrow.
[ no matter how many times jack sparrow waggles his eyebrows. ]
Nope. In the end? I'll stick with a good old top-and-jeans combo. But all this talk reminds me that I should probably actually maybe think about packing a bag. Lots of people. Cramped ships. And I doubt they have coin laundries.
I've seen the state of a person after days out on their boat. Not pretty. [ a beat. ] Okay. Maybe a little pretty.
...looking at their userheads in a closed thread is kinda awesomemarkofthebraveAugust 25 2011, 04:53:01 UTC
[She shakes her head. 'Coin laundries' she can piece together from the context.]
You'll definitely want to pack one of those - sanitizer things? That they have in the grocery store. There's no knowing about the kind of showers they'll have. But a lot of the Malnosso's stuff is really advanced, so you might not even have to worry about that.
Or if they'll have showers at all. I'm pretty sure all the captains who pony'd up for command like their boats ye olde style. The Commandant might have provided for that. You don't want someone at the helm who doesn't even know what to do with what he's got.
[Ye Olde Style, huh? That's... very similar to the kind of ships Katara's used to. She makes a face.]
That's one thing Fire Nation ships had over ours - they were able to make use of their technology for washing areas. Sanitation on a ship's incredibly important - such a tight space means that disease can spread really easily. So if the Commandant doesn't want us all catching the flu and being completely useless out there, I'm pretty sure we can count on showers.
