[ It's only after seeing Rapunzel that Flynn finally heads out, still too numb to really have any emotional reaction to the news that he'll be going to war. His expression remains uncharacteristically blank as he heads to the smithy ... thinks better of it, and walks to the weapons shop instead.
Really, he doesn't know where to begin. A sword would do, but...
At one point he just stops in the middle of the plaza, just rubbing a hand over his mouth.
[Wolfwood was at the weapon's shop when Flynn had gone, and so when the two ended up leaving at the same time-him with a rather large box, the other with nothing much at all-he can't help but connect the dots. Looks like the roof-climber'll need some help.
... Wolfwood. [ He lets his hand drop when he sees the other man. ] ... hey, yeah. Maybe you can help me. [ He smiles -- it's faint, a ghost of his usual amused grin. ] Trying to find something to use for the draft.
Well. That I can help you with. [He nods his head toward the path.] Have you been to the battle dome? I'll get you something to work with, but you'll probably need a little target practice first.
Good. Then come to the battle dome, and I'll get you set up. You don't have long, and going into the fight without at least having an idea of how to work it'll only be a disadvantage to you.
Learn how to shoot at something? Yeah. Learn to hit it? We'll see. It takes a while to get really good, like most things. But what's important is that you know it well enough to make a difference in your defenses.
The worst thing you can do with a gun is fire it at someone without firing it at a target first.
[Unless absolutely necessary. Orrrr to kill your shitty guardian. :|]
[ This time he does wince. Hell. ] What do you mean, fire it at someone without firing it at a target? Isn't the ... the person the target? [ He valiantly fights off the ill feeling in his gut. ]

What ... what does he do? ]

And. Well, Wolfwood's offered before.]

If you're able and willing, anyway.

I'm willing. [ ... ] But ... what do you mean by "something"?

Ever use a gun before?

[He pauses.]
I can't guarantee you'll walk away happy with it... but it's better than walking away from the body of a friend, if you can help it.

All he does is nod. But it's a firm one, and he meets Wolfwood's eye.
He does not relish the thought of killing anyone. Not now, not ever, for any reason. But if he must, to keep Rapunzel safe... ]

[He's already turning to go on his way there.]

Think I can really learn this fast?

He offers Flynn a sympathetic sort of look.]
I meant a target.... like a bulls eye.
[sob son, your thoughts are hideous]
But if you have concerns about shooting bystanders by accident, there's that to worry about, too.

[ ... yes. Yes, they are hideous. He's not sure if he hates himself for them or not. ]
Yeah, that's, uh ... damn. [ He rubs his forehead. ] Sorry, sorry. I just ... you can ... probably tell I've never done this sort of thing before.

You talk like that's a bad thing.
