[Saleh is definitely not used to having a spear in his face, particularly from a friend. So he is beyond stunned when he meets Kain's spear up close and personal.]

Kain? What is the meaning of this??

[dragoon_pride]

[It has been a while since Kain aimlessly pointed weapons at his friends. But this time he has a purpose behind it other than darkness. He holds the spear no him a moment, then holds out a card- one of several he'd prepared- that he's written out in advance:]

Face me in battle, and let us fight like real men, right here and now. I'll prove the true strength of a dragoon. Do you accept this challenge?

[mountain_sage]

I'm not...I don't fight like that.

[Yeah, battling the sage isn't going to be much of a challenge for the dragoon. He glares as he regains his composure.]

No, I do not accept. What has gotten into you?

[dragoon_pride]

Are you a coward?

[Kain's expression is entirely serious as he holds the card up. Clearly he isn't taking this lightly... or easily taking 'no' for an answer.]

[mountain_sage]

A coward? No...I just refuse to fight.

[dragoon_pride]

Only the weak and children run from a battle.

[Kain levels his spear threateningly on him. Under normal and sane circumstances... he would indeed see how outlandish this behavior is. But unfortunately he's well past common sense or reason at the moment.]

[mountain_sage]

[And he takes a step back.]

Battling like this is pointless. It would prove nothing. Stop, and look at yourself.

[dragoon_pride]

[But Kain shakes his head and advances on him a step, spear readied.]

Battle is the only way to prove one's self.

[mountain_sage]

[And he takes another step back.]

In what way do you seek to prove yourself? Battle is not the only way.

[dragoon_pride]

['Yes it is.' Kain mouths that and then takes on a more threatening stance. He gives Saleh another scathing stare, and then leaps to the air. Incoming dragoon, descending fast!]

[mountain_sage]

[Oh snap. Saleh quickly steps backwards as the dragoon leaps, only to trip over himself and fall to the ground, narrowly dodging the incoming attack.]

Kain!

[He's getting more desperate now.]

[dragoon_pride]

[After landing, Kain turns on him and slashes the spear wildly through the air toward him. It's probably pretty evident from his mannerisms and so forth that he is in full Serious Business Mode about this.]

[mountain_sage]

[Saleh gets up quickly, raising his staff to try to block that spear.]

[dragoon_pride]

[There's a loud clanging of weapons. Kain is unrelenting in his attacking, thrusting the weapon forth yet again.]

[mountain_sage]

[This time, Saleh sidesteps the attack, attempting to grab the end of the spear and hold onto it tightly.]

Stop!

[dragoon_pride]

[Kain attempts to yank the lance free from his grip, shaking his head in reply.]
