[Wolfwood'll go ahead and help you out with one of the Third Party members breaking said line of defense; there's a hiss of steam and then the sound of machine gun fire. The soldier falls pretty quickly, leaving just Wolfwood's tattered silhouette in its wake.
Still, there's probably more after him.
Wolfwood squints through the rain at the girl, wishing-oh, wishing so much-for it to let up so he can get himself a proper cigarette... But until then, best to check in on someone who looks like they should never have been drafted.
[Bullets. Lots and lots of bullets. The gun is still firm in her hand, but her eyes got a bit wide, and in this instant she is very thankful for the rain obscuring her vision. She knows he wouldn't want to have a better look at that downed soldier. She allows herself all of three seconds of panics before collecting herself, standing, and-]
What're you doing out here? [Not a scolding, but an exasperated jab at you-know-who. 'Kids' are fair game for an early grave out here, in his experience.
He swings the cross to rest on his shoulder. Guess we all gotta start growing up sometime, huh...? Too bad this is the worst possible way to do it.]
What's your name?
[Feels like he's seen you before, but then, he feels that way with most of the people in Luceti.]
Haruhi. [What's she doing out here- she almost comments that where they are now is actually within the camp. Where it was supposed to be safe. But she just keeps the gun in hand, keeps the stance, and then crouches. She hopes she doesn't have to shoot it - and around this person she doubts she will, but. ...It gives her something to focus on]
[He means 'why aren't you hidden in a tent with all the other non-combatants', but seeing as how he's running into quite a few people who should be, he's gotten used to it.]
A cook with a gun, huh? [He smiles a little at that.] Strangely enough, not the first one I've ran into lately. You're not injured or anything, are you?
[Not that he has much room for talking; his suit has plenty of tears in it.
Also, gotta keep an eye out for any unwanted guests. Shifty eyes are a necessity.]
[Would you believe the tent she was going to be in collapsed do to poor construction in the wake of the muddy ground sliding? Because it did. In any case no, she's not injured - miraculously, the worst she's gotten this whole draft are a few bruises. And now that things seem clam- she should flee right? Or at least try to.]
I'm not going to shoot it.
[...] Thanks.
[And now let's see - closest tent is over- there! Okay, she turns with one more glance back to him and starts to make her way there at a brick pace.
But then, the whole camp is in chaos right now. It might not work out]
[She nods at that and completes her turn to flee further. She doesn't know who they guy is, but he did save her and... well. Might as well repay it by staying alive! Once she's hidden again, that'll be so much easier]
Still, there's probably more after him.

Goddamn wartime bullcrap.]

If you have to use it, just remember what it is you're protecting in the process.
[It makes it easier.]
