[Giles is staying back with McCoy's camp, for the most part. He can fetch and carry, with direction, or do some rudimentary setup. Mostly, though, he'll be patrolling so everyone else can do the setting up. Don't think you can sneak up on the ex-Watcher that easily - his eyes might not be working so well, but every other sense is on high alert for signs of the Third Party or hostile wildlife.

Feel free to catch him as much as five minutes away from the camp, armed with the recommended gear as well as weaponry - whether he uses the crossbow, the pistol, or the black spell book depends on what comes at him.

His journal stays with him constantly, on and transmitting. If he comes across a villager, hears one nearby, or is hailed over the journal, he'll assist where he can. The lack of power cap means that he's a little more powerful magically than he is normally, and thanks to Catherine's tip his Filial magic is working double time.]

[Admittedly she wasn't being as quiet as she could be, but that still was no mean feat. Ayumu frowns slightly, but has to concede the point.]

I'll accompany you until you return to the camp, then.

I'm on perimeter patrol. It will be a while before I get back to camp.

[He sighs - her tone does indeed brook no argument. Some people can just...manage that tone.]

Without another word she'll just move on, ranging forward a bit to check the area ahead before dropping back to where Giles is walking.]

Had to run away from the jaguar, but otherwise I've been fine.

[She still thinks it inadvisable, but clearly he isn't interested in arguing the point so she simply won't bother. Ayumu shakes her head and keeps going, not only staying close to him but not staying as silent as she could be so that he knows she's there.]

[Occasionally, he tilts his head towards her, keeping tabs. But otherwise, he's too busy looking out for traps or listening for footsteps that aren't her soft, careful ones.

It's several minutes before he speaks again.]

[For a moment there's no response, as though she wasn't there to hear or simply wasn't paying attention, but then Ayumu audibly brushes aside a branch to give him warning of where she is before giving a soft answer.]

Quiet. A little overly so.

Aim to your left. I suspect a trap ahead; I'm going to check.
