She had followed him for several days. All day he fiddled with the barrier. It was, if she had known the word for the feeling, unnerving at least.

It's not until the day after he puts out his fire that he might find her there, watching him.

"What are you doing?"

The figure in the hat stiffens, at her voice. This is the one. The pair of eyes that have been following, all this time. He doesn't turn around.

"Thinking."

His gaze shifts toward her. "What are you doing?"
