[ buffy is no stranger to visions or to dreams brimming with portents and intrusive suggestions about the nature of reality. back before her war-retirement and back before she became mrs. horner, she had experienced many more dreams -- particularly those that tipped her uncomfortably off about shifts. cryptically and disquietingly.

these are different dreams, though. they don't seem to point at what will be but instead to what was; however, that's impossible. there are things she has no recollection of living or experiencing or even wanting. but then there are others that she recalls wanting very much. how troubling.

she tries to down these and other troubling troubles in repelling some of these beasties. the warrior leaving behind her long, long absence from the field in order to protect the things she cares about. and when she's not fighting she's ruminating and worrying over other things. buffy has been inactive -- passive -- for too long. things have to change ( ... )

[It's night time and Thursday is out walking. She is heading to Buffy's house, but her route is circuitous. With every step she builds the courage - or perhaps more accurately, the anger - to face her daughter in what will doubtless break down into a shouting match... or at the very least a battle fought with blades of sarcasm. Horner will be the battleground ( ... )

[ it's monday night and buffy is -- oh, god -- she is all kinds of troubled. she is walking home after a patrol and is at first surprised to find her mother flattened against a wall near her home.

she stops, shoulders her sword and tilts her head. ] Mom?

Buffy! Shh!

[Thursday puts a quick finger to her lips and gestures around the corner. She's businesslike, serious. If it hadn't seen her yet... has it heard them now?

In whisper she warns, simply;]

Dog monster!

[And beckons Buffy closer.]

[Thursday has returned to the bridge between houses twelve and fifteen. She arrives there in the early hours in the morning and doesn't leave until part way through the evening. Her hands are resting on the hand-rails and stands with her back to the rest of Luceti facing the incoming current. She dreamt of her husband -- though it wasn't him. It wasn't here. Is she forgetting what he had looked like already?

Whatever the answer, the vanishing point of the forest - that point at which the canopy over the river becomes darkest - has the answers. It might tell her, too, why she awoke with such a strong and familiar nausea. Why she has the sense that something amazing is going to happen four days from now... Something so exciting that it brings tears to her eyes when she wills the days to pass. She can't remember for the life of her what is supposed to happen. She can only wait.]

(If you have any reason to cross the bridge today, Thursday will be there. Distract her! She'll be thankful for it.)

[Ginko always has a reason to go a-crossing bridges. But today it's crossing out of the forest that he wants to do. Space for thinking aside, there's the feeling of Something Unsavory watching in those woods, and it's enough to break apart his thoughts.

He sees a woman ahead-- name, name. No-- unfamiliar. Maybe seen her around Archie's, at some point? Hard to say.]

Yo. [quietly]

[ This weird dreaming nonsense is already starting to really wear on Lightning's nerves. Ever since they've started, she's been haunted incessantly by visions of things she doesn't understand- about a girl made of crystal, an annoying(?) man in a coat, guns and magic, women in colorful clothing... all of them and others, people Lightning doesn't recognize except when her son Hope is there too, taking part in events that are totally foreign.

... Foreign, but oddly familiar. Worst of all is the sense of impending doom she keeps waking up with, her hand over her heart and a strange name on her lips- Ragnarok. When that happens, it takes her quite a while to calm down enough to be able to even leave her bedroom. Needless to say, sleep has been fleeting.

Therefore, even though the woman has been getting better about this, knows that it's 'bad' for her and she should really either cut down or stop entirely... she really, really needs the cigarettes right now. Problem is, just one at a time isn't even close to enough, and standing ( ... )

[It's late at night, so there shouldn't be many other people out...

Shouldn't be. It seems like tonight is a restless night in general. Still, the plaza isn't as crowded as it is in daytime, making it easier for Aerith to spot Lightning...

And she sighs.] I thought you were stopping that.

[ Lightning sees Aerith approaching and frowns, knowing what's probably coming. It's not like she's particularly proud of the habit, after all-- especially when it's got her in its grip as strongly as it does now. Honestly, she's already long lost count of how many cigarettes she's gone through in just a day.

She puffs out a breath in response, clears her throat quietly as she crosses her arms with obvious caution. ]

I was.

So... what's up? [Because it is noticeable that Lightning is tense--no, not in the way she normally is. This is different. Aerith eyes her thoughtfully.]

[Archie's dreams the first night were actually pretty cool--high seas adventures, battles that seemed terrifying in the dream becoming exciting once he was awake, things he had tried to remember after waking. Most of them faded before too long, even as he stood staring at the mural Jilly had painted on their living room wall of a ship. Clearly, the dreams had come from seeing the painting every day.

Most of the dreams the second night were similar, except for one that caused him to wake early and make himself a cup of tea to ground himself. It took him a few hours to shake that one off, and he was faintly disturbed for most of the morning. During his lunch break, he took off for a walk in the woods to clear his mind.

After school was out, he buzzed around town, the dreams no longer important, eventually ending up in Seventh Heaven with papers to grade and a slice of cheesecake.]

[Don't mind Vash as he slide in next to you with a plate of spaghetti.] So how are the young minds of tomorrow doing today?

[Archie gets a mildly surprised look for a moment.] Nothing unusual is happening. How is everything at the flower shop?

Not too bad, a lot of my coworkers have been having some pretty unpleasant dreams though. A lot of people have been. [There's an invitation in there.]

[Sheena's had a couple really rough nights. Some of it, she hasn't even felt able to share with Zelos. ...Some of it was about him.

And it doesn't help that she tried to take a walk to clear her head and one of those things started following her. It took her forever to lose it, and now she's holed herself up on, of all places, the tea shop roof. (There's a trapdoor to get up there, naturally.)

Which makes her quite visible to people, in all her tired-and-shakenness.]

[Eventually Zelos does pass by, having slunk around the village just... watching these beasts. At least he hasn't been dumb enough to attack one, so he's in one piece, if a bit wierded out.

He takes a look at the shop and notices her after a second.]

Hey, you okay up there?
