Summary: Hoping to improve their financial lot, the Brothers Jack decide it's time to redeem some of Nami's cash. Hiccup comes too.

All his young life, Jack Sparrow had been the brother least likely to succeed. The screw-up, the failure, the blackest of some very morally-gray sheep; letting everyone down, Sparrow simply couldn't complete anything. The lowest point might have been seducing Raine and getting her pregnant with the twins before going off and marrying Tia. It was the most irresponsible act of his life and he often regretted it in the intervening years, because on some level he always loved Raine ( ... )

The curious thing about Jack Horner was that he was a lot better off than he really thought. The magical briefcase at this side had no limits to how much he could carry and thus no matter how much Jack packed into it, he never felt like it was full. Likewise, that empty space in his heart never seemed like it could be filled. Oh sure, Buffy and Winry were nice and when he acted the part of husband and dad, it didn't seem so bad.

But that hole was still there and he had to fill it with something. Only when he was making it big with a lot of money did he ever feel like he was getting somewhere. His whole life was just one long path towards something big and he just hadn't quite worked out what it was yet. But one day he knew he'd be stinking rich and rolling in the gold.

Relieving Nami of some of her wealth was merely one step on the way there. One day he'd own this damn town. He couldn't very well do that with rivals. Helping his brother get out of debt was not even close to being a significant reason for doing this. It was fortunate ( ... )

"My son, you mean, will be along presently." Jack looked around, then thought to look up, just in case Hiccup was arriving by dragon. The fireworks display was going to start soon, and they couldn't have asked for a clearer, blacker night for criminal activities and pyrotechnic distractions.
